Ayman Halawani
Ayman Halawani, now known as Richard Halawani, is an American entrepreneur, film producer and was head of production at Rotana's film division. He produced the first Saudi movie '' Keif al-Hal'', which included the first Saudi female actress to be on the big screen. He later co-founded a company called The Clinics (the-clinics.com) and a company in consumer services. Campaign for change Ayman says that not only are there no public cinemas in the kingdom, but there is only a small film-making industry, concentrating on short films and documentaries. Keif al-Hal is set in Saudi Arabia but it was actually made in Dubai which has the film infrastructure which the Saudis lack. Partly it is a simple matter of studio space but he says that even more importantly there is no body of skilled technicians to call on. Rotana Media Group, commonly known as Rotana (), is a Saudi Arabian entertainment company. It is primarily owned by Saudi prince Al Waleed bin Talal through Kingdom Holding Company. The media conglomerate includes a film production company (Rotana Studios), free to air television stations (Rotana TV), music channels (Rotana Radio), a record label ( Rotana Music Group) and others businesses. History Rotana was founded by Ibrahim Nagro and his brothers, with a 50% share to the Saudi business man Saleeh Kameel. In 2003, Al Waleed increased his stake to 100 percent, after initially acquiring a 48 percent stake in 2002. He developed Rotana Music Channel as a 24-hour free-to-air service for Rotana artists. Keif Al-Hal?
''Keif al-Hal?'' () (How are You?) is Saudi Arabia's first big-budget film, produced by Ayman Halawani (of Prince Al-Walid bin Talal's Rotana Group). Directed by Izidore Musallam, it stars Hind Mohammed, the first Saudi cinema actress. Plot The film is a comedy-drama that recounts the story of a family torn between modernity and tradition in Saudi Arabia. Production The film, shot in Dubai, United Arab Emirates is financed by Rotana Group, a company owned by Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal. Release and reception Saudi audiences were able to see the film on pay-per-view through an agreement with Showtime Arabia. The movie was shown at 17 festivals worldwide.
