Awkuzu
Awkuzu is a town in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state of Nigeria. Origin The story of the Origin of Awkụzụ, Awkụzụ was one of the progenies of the fifth child of Eri his only daughter called Iguedo, who is also said to have borne the founders of Ogbunike, Awkụzụ, Umueri and Nando. Awkụzụ which is the colonial era of the name, "OKUZU" is presently located in Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State and is bounded by Umunya and Nteje towns also in Oyi LGA, Ifitedunu, Ukpo and Ukwulu in Dunukofia LGA and Nando and Igbariam towns in today's Anambra East LGA, and Abba in Njikoka LGA. Division Awkụzụ is divided into three main parts: Ezi, Ifite and Ikenga sections according to seniority or birth order. Umunya
Umunya is an Olu Town and one of the five communities that make up Oyi Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State Nigeria. It is bordered by six neighbors: Ifite-Dunu, Awkuzu, Nteje, Nkwelle-Ezunaka, Ogbunike, and Umudioka. In the south lies Umudioka and Ifite-Dunu, both in Dunukofia LGA. In the north, Nteje and Nkwelle-Ezunaka. In the east, Awkuzu and in the west, Ogbunike. Eri (king)
Eri is said to be the original legendary cultural head of the Umu-eri groups of the Igbo people. Eri established a community in the middle of Anambra river valley (at Eri-aka) in Aguleri where he married two wives. The first wife, Nneamakụ, bore him five children. The first was Agulu, the founder of Aguleri (The ancestral head of Eri Kingdom clans) (the Ezeora dynasty that has produced 34 kings till date in Enugwu Aguleri), the second was Menri, the founder of Umunri / Kingdom of Nri, followed by Onugu, the founder of Igbariam and Ogbodulu, the founder of Amanuke. Ogbunike
Ogbunike is a town in the Oyi local government area of Anambra State, Nigeria. There are markets in Ogbunike. These include Plastic Products Dealers Society International Market Ogbunike. It is a suburb of Onitsha. Location It is located about 15 kilometers east of Onitsha. The Onitsha-Enugu expressway cuts through its northern border. The town is bordered on the east by Umudioka of the Dunukofia, Dunukofia local government area, on the north-east by Umunya and on the north by Nkwelle-Ezunaka (both Oyi local government area). Nteje is the headquarters of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. It is situated about north-east of Onitsha by land route. It is located on the map along the longitude 6.45°E and the latitude 6.14°N. The land is fairly low, about above sea level. Ifitedunu, Dunukofia
Ifitedunu is a town in the Dunukofia Local Government Areas of Nigeria, Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. It borders Abba, Awkuzu and Ukpo in the North, Abagana in the South Umunachi on the East and Umudioka and Umunya on West. History Ifitedunu is the second son of Dunu, whom was famously called Okofia. Ukwulu
Ukwulu is a town in Dunukofia Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State, Nigeria. It is located 13.7 kilometres by road north of the LGA headquarters. It is home to the Igbo peoples. History The first officially documented leader of the town was Okafor Ozoife, who rose to power in the late 1800s as a warrant chief under the British occupation forces. He delineated the land mass of the town by locating beacons on the major boundaries of the town. He died in 1934 and the town was ruled by President Generals, who were elected by the people, up until 1977, when the Igwe (King) was nominated, Dr. Timothy C. Tagbo, Eze Ukwu I of Ukwulu.
