Awaza Convention Center
The Awaza Congress Center () is located in the Awaza Borough of the city of Türkmenbaşy, Turkmenistan. It is one of the largest conference centres in the world. It is used for conventions, exhibitions and concerts. It opened in September 2015. Overview Built by Turkish construction firm Polimeks, work on the project began in November 2012 and ended in September 2015. The center was opened by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow on 8 September 2015. Halls The Awaza Congress Center consists of two conference halls with 2000 and 476 seats, one banquet hall with a capacity of 450 and 256 persons depending on seating or buffet arrangement, and a press conference hall with a capacity of 128 persons. Awaza
Awaza (or Avaza) refers to both a tourist zone in and a borough (district headed by a presidentially appointed mayor) of the city of Türkmenbaşy, Turkmenistan. It is located on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, 12 km west of downtown Türkmenbaşy. Awaza has grown from a small village to one of the largest resort destinations along the Caspian Sea coast. The Awaza District (borough) of Türkmenbaşy city was formed in July 2013. Awaza District, an area of 9660 hectares, includes the Awaza national tourist zone, Turkmenbashi International Airport and a small residential area. The tourist zone was commissioned by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow, who sought to imitate Dubai's development boom. Türkmenbaşy, previously known as Shagadam (), Krasnovodsk () and Kyzyl-Su, is a city in Balkan Region, Balkan Province in western Turkmenistan, on the Türkmenbaşy Gulf of the Caspian Sea. Gurbanguly Mälikgulyýewiç Berdimuhamedow (born 29 June 1957) is a Turkmen politician and former dentist who is currently the chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan. He previously served as the second president of Turkmenistan from 2006 to 2022, when he entered into a power-sharing arrangement with his son, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, Serdar, the current president. The People's Council of Turkmenistan (, ɑlq mɑθlɑxɑt̪ɯ "People's Council") is Turkmenistan's independent "representative body" exerting supreme constitutional authority. It includes in its membership, but is not considered part of, the legislature. Among other things, it is empowered to amend the constitution. Its chairperson is appointed by the president and is designated the "National Leader".
