Awarapan
''Awarapan'' () is a 2007 Indian Hindi-language action crime film directed by Mohit Suri and written by Shagufta Rafique, from a story by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Mukesh Bhatt. An uncredited remake of the South Korean film ''A Bittersweet Life'', ''Awarapan'' was theatrically released in India and worldwide on 29 June 2007. It stars Emraan Hashmi, Shriya Saran, Mrinalini Sharma, and Ashutosh Rana. In the film, gangster Shivam Pandit (Hashmi) is ordered by his boss Bharat Malik (Rana) to watch over Reema (Sharma), Malik's secret Pakistani mistress. Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, it was a commercial failure, but eventually came to be regarded as one of Hashmi's best works. The film later on received a cult status and saved Hashmi's career with multiple hits thereafter. Shriya Saran Bhatnagar ( born 11 September 1982) is an Indian actress who primarily works in Telugu language, Telugu, Tamil language, Tamil and Hindi films. Mohit Suri (born 11 April 1981) is an Indian film director. He directed the films '' Murder 2 '' (2011), the musical romance '' Aashiqui 2'' (2013) and the romantic thrillers '' Awarapan'' (2007), ''Ek Villain'' (2014) and ''Malang'' (2020). ''A Bittersweet Life'' () is a 2005 South Korean action film written and directed by Kim Jee-woon. It stars Lee Byung-hun as Sun-woo, a hitman who becomes targeted by his boss after he spares the latter's cheating mistress. The film was released theatrically in South Korea on 1 April 2005. It opened on 265 screens throughout the country, and registered a total of 1,112,950 admissions by the end of its run. It was also screened out of competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. Mukesh Bhatt (born 5 June 1952) is an Indian people, Indian film producer and actor who has produced several Bollywood films. He is the younger brother of Mahesh Bhatt, and also the co-owner of the production company Vishesh Films, set up in 1986. Shagufta Rafique is an Indian film screenwriter and film director. Biography Shagufta was an adopted child. Her parents are unknown. Her foster mother was in a relationship with a Kolkata based businessman, who left his second family unsupported after his death. His sudden death brought the family into poverty and Shagufta had to start supporting family at a young age of 11 by dancing at private parties. Her mother also trained her as a classical dancer.
