Awa Khaled Rashid Uddin Ahmad (, ; 1884–1959) was a prominent Islamic scholar, politician, social reformer, and spiritual leader; he was also known as Pir Badshah Miah. A fourth-generation descendant of Haji Shariatullah, he assumed responsibility for the Bahadurpur sufi lodge and the Faraizi movement after his father's death in 1906. Early life Badshah Miah was born in 1884 in the village of Bahadurpur, under Shibchar Upazila, Shibchar Thana, in the Madaripur District, Madaripur Mahakuma of the then Bengal Presidency, British India, to Khan Bahadur Syed Uddin. In 1887, Badshah Miah began learning the Arabic language from his father and studied Qaida Baghdadi under Qari Syed Ahmad at his home. He learned the recitation of the Quran from Qari Mohammad Shaheb at the madrasa founded by his father. Later, he continued his studies up to the eighth grade under Babu Gurudev Poddar at his home. Haji Shariatullah
Haji Shariatullah (; 17811840) was a prominent religious leader and Islamic scholar from Bengal in the eastern the subcontinent, subcontinent, who is best known as the founder of the Faraizi movement. In 1884, the Shariatpur District was formed and named after him. Early life Shariatullah was born in 1781 into a family of Taluqdars in Shamail, a village in present-day Shibchar, Madaripur District, Madaripur. His father was Abd al-Jalil Taluqdar, a landowner of limited means. His mother died when he was a child. At around eight years old, Shariatullah lost his father and was then taken care of by his uncle, Azim ad-Din, who nurtured him in a very loving manner and made Shariatullah's youth "carefree" with little concern for discipline. However, when he reached the age of twelve, Shariatullah ran away to Calcutta supposedly due to being reprimanded by his uncle on a certain occasion.
