The Avra Valley is a 50-mile (80 km) long northwest–southeast valley, bordering the west of Tucson, Arizona. The Tucson Mountains are at the valley's center-east, with suburbs ranging east of the Tucson Mountains and trending northwest to the Avra Valley's northeast. This entire northwest stretch from Tucson contains the northwest trending Interstate 10, the route to Casa Grande and Phoenix. Marana Regional Airport , also known as Marana Northwest Regional Airport or Avra Valley Airport, is a non-towered, general aviation airport about northwest of Tucson in Marana, a town in Pima County, Arizona, United States. In 1999, the airport was purchased from Pima County by the town of Marana. According to the FAA's National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2007–2011, it is categorized as a ''relief airport''. Avra () is a village in Kalabaka municipality, Trikala, Thessaly, Greece. History The community of Koprainis was established on August 16, 1912, when the settlement of Kopraina (Κόπραινα) was split off from the municipality of Aigini (Δήμος Αιγινίου) and designated as the seat of the community. On October 10, 1955, Kopraina was renamed Avra. It was merged into the municipality of Kalampaka on December 4, 1997. Avra Velis, known mononymously as Avra, is a Greek-Australian singer. She is known for her ambitious music videos and stage performances as well as her poetic, thought provoking lyrics. Avra Theodoropoulou (; 3 November 1880 – 20 January 1963) was a Greek music teacher, pianist, suffragist and women's rights activist. She founded the Greek League for Women's Rights, League for Women's Rights in 1920 and served as its chairperson from 1920 to 1957. She was married to the poet . Early life Avra Drakopoulou was born on 3 November 1880 in Edirne, Ottoman Empire, to Eleni and Aristomenis Drakopoulos, who was a consul official for Greece in Turkey. Her sister, , was a well-known poet and actress. In their childhood, the family was posted in Turkey and then Crete before settling in Athens.
