Aviya Kopelman
Aviya Kopelman (; born in Moscow 1978) is an Israeli composer and pianist. She is one of the youngest ever Israel Prime Minister Prize for Composition recipients and has served as composer-in-residence of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra since 2013. Kopelman's musical education started with piano lessons, and she is listed as a "notable alumna of Israel Arts and Science Academy," where she studied with Prof. Andre Hajdu, prof. Bat-Sheva Rubinstein and Prof. Michael Wolpe. She holds degrees in composition from Jerusalem Music and Dance Academy, Bar-Ilan University (MA Summa Cum Laude, PhD in progress). Quartetto Di Cremona
The Quartetto di Cremona () is an Italian string quartet founded in Cremona and considered one of the best of its generation. Origins and activities The most recent incarnation of the quartet was formed in the year 2000, while studying at the Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona with Salvatore Accardo, Rocco Filippini, and Bruno Giuranna. Ruth Dolores Weiss
Ruth Dolores Weiss (; born February 23, 1978, in Ashkelon, Israel) is an Israeli musician. She released her second studio album, ''Be'Ivrit'' (literally, "In Hebrew"), to critical acclaim in Israel in August 2008. Ben Shalev, Israel's top music critic, writing about the album in ''Haaretz'', said, "Amazing. There is no other word to describe the encounter with the voice, talent, sensitivity, emotion and spirit of Ruth Dolores Weiss." Another Israeli music critic, David Peretz, one of the first to hear Weiss' songs, said it was like discovering Billie Holiday or Björk in Ashkelon, her hometown. Weiss' previous album, ''Come See (Raw Versions)'', was released in 2004. Weiss lived in Austin, Texas, for a few years before releasing ''Be'Ivrit'', but returned to live in Israel with her family to tour, perform and record. Yair Dalal
Yair Dalal (; born 25 July 1955) is an Israeli musician of Iraqi-Jewish descent. His main instruments are the oud and the violin, and he also sings as accompaniment. He composes his own music and draws on Arab and Jewish traditions, as well as European classical music and Indian music. He is also a peace activist, and works to enhance understanding and communication between Arabs and Jews. Zubin Mehta
Zubin Mehta (born 29 April 1936) is an Indian conductor of Western classical music. He is music director emeritus of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO) and conductor :wikt:emeritus, emeritus of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Mehta's father was the founder of the Bombay Symphony Orchestra, and Mehta received his early musical education from him. When he was 18, he enrolled in the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Vienna state music academy, from which he graduated after three years with a diploma as a conductor. Leah Goldberg
Leah Goldberg or Lea Goldberg (; May 29, 1911, Königsberg – January 15, 1970, Jerusalem) was a prolific Hebrew-language poet, author, playwright, literary translator, illustrater and painter, and comparative literary researcher. Her writings are considered classics of Israeli literature. Biography Leah Goldberg was born to a Jewish Lithuanian family from Kaunas, however her mother traveled to the nearby German city of Königsberg (today, Russian Kaliningrad) in order to give birth in better medical conditions. Dawn Upshaw (born July 17, 1960) is an American soprano. She is the recipient of several Grammy Awards and has released a number of Edison Award-winning discs; she performs both opera and art song, and her repertoire spans Baroque to contemporary. David Avidan (; February 21, 1934 – May 11, 1995) was an Israeli "poet, painter, filmmaker, publicist, and playwright" (as he often put it). He wrote 20 published books of Hebrew poetry. Yona Wallach
Yona Wallach (; June 10, 1944 – September 26, 1985) was an Israeli poet. Her surname also appears as Volach. She is considered a revolutionary Israeli Feminism, feminist and Postmodernism, post-modernist. Wallach had wrote poetry from a young age. Her work was influenced by Jewish mysticism. Throughout her life, she struggled with periods of drug addiction. She began receiving critical acclaim in the late 1970s. Wallach developed breast cancer in 1981 and refused treatment for two years.
