Aviapolis is a business, retail, entertainment, and housing marketing brand area in central Vantaa, Finland, covering roughly , including Finland's main airline hub and airport, Helsinki Airport. Aviapolis railway station ( fi, Aviapoliksen rautatieasema, sv, Aviapolis järnvägsstation) is a Helsinki commuter rail station located in the area of Aviapolis in Vantaa, Finland. It is one of the new stations of the Ring Rail Line (Kehärata), which opened in July 2015. Ring Rail Line
The Ring Rail Line ( fi, Kehärata, sv, Ringbanan; formerly ''Marjarata'') is a railway route in the area of the city of Vantaa, in the Greater Helsinki Metropolitan Area of Finland. It connects Helsinki-Vantaa Airport and the adjacent Aviapolis business and retail district to the Helsinki commuter rail network. The line fills the gap between Vantaankoski and Tikkurila railway stations, travelling in tunnel underneath the airport. The line started operating on 1 July 2015. History The founding stone of the line was laid on 3 March 2009, and construction was started on 13 May 2009 with the excavation of service tunnels. Pakkala ( sv, Backas) is a city district in Vantaa, Finland. It is the most populated district in the Aviapolis major region, and is named after the Backas estate situated there. Pakkala is notable for the suburb of Kartanonkoski and the business park of Vantaanportti, which includes both Jumbo Shopping Centre and the Flamingo entertainment center. Housing In 2014, Pakkala had a population of 9,509, which had grown from a mere 416 in 1990. The reason for rapid growth was the construction of suburbs in the area, particularly that of Kartanonkoski. Lentokenttä ( sv, Flygfältet; English meaning: "airfield") is a district of Vantaa, Finland, located in the middle of the city. The district is part of the Aviapolis major region and has been named after the Helsinki Airport situated there. The district of Lentokenttä is the largest single job concentration of Vantaa. In 2001, the district provided jobs for over 11,000 people, of which almost 9,000 worked in customer service. As the airport area has grown, the number of jobs has increased dramatically. Kartanonkoski ( sv, Herrgårdsforsen) is a Finnish housing suburb in the southern part of the City of Vantaa. Kartanonkoski is a part of the Pakkala district and furthermore a part of Aviapolis marketing brand area of Vantaa. The area is located on the grounds of the Backas Mansion.
