Avgorou
Avgorou ( el, Αυγόρου, also spelled Αβγόρου, []) is a municipal district of the Municipality of Ayia Napa in southwestern Famagusta District, Cyprus. It is located near Frenaros, Sotira, Famagusta, Sotira, Liopetri and Ormidia . Avgorou is one of the bigger suburbs in Famagusta area. Approximately 40 meters above sea level, near the district of Larnaka – Famagusta, and about 6 km north from Xylofagou village. Famagusta District
Famagusta District ( gr, Επαρχία Αμμοχώστου, Eparchia Ammochostu; tr, Mağusa kazası) is one of the six districts of Cyprus. Its main town is the island's most important port, Famagusta. History Most of the district has been under Turkish control since the 1974 invasion. Since 1998, the northeastern section, including the Karpaz Peninsula, has been administered separately as the İskele District, a division not recognized by the Republic of Cyprus and the UN. A district administration in "exile" exists on the Republic of Cyprus-controlled part of the island. This part of the district has a population of 46,900 inhabitants (2015). Cyprus is divided into six districts ( gr, επαρχίες; tr, kaza), whose capitals share the same name. The districts are subdivided into municipalities and communities. Eastern European Time (EET) is one of the names of UTC+02:00 time zone, 2 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. The zone uses daylight saving time, so that it uses UTC+03:00 during the summer. Eastern European Summer Time (EEST) is one of the names of the UTC+03:00 time zone, which is 3 hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time. It is used as a summer daylight saving time in some European and Middle Eastern countries, which makes it the same as Arabia Standard Time, East Africa Time, and Moscow Time. During the winter periods, Eastern European Time ( UTC+02:00) is used. Since 1996, European Summer Time has been applied from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Frenaros
Frenaros ( el, Φρέναρος; ) is a village in the Famagusta District of Cyprus. In 2011, it had a population of 4,298. History Frenaros was named after Lusignan monks called Fremenors, who lived in the nearby Panagia of Hortakion monastery. It has two churches that date back to the 12th century. In 1925, Swedish archeologist Einar Gjerstad uncovered evidence that the village dates back to the Neolithic period. The earliest known mention of Frenaros was in the 15th century, where it was referred to as "Apano Frenaro" (Απάνω Φρέναρο; "Up Frenaro") and "Kato Frenaro" (Κάτω Φρέναρο; "Down Frenaro"), suggesting that it once used to be divided into two separate parts. Ormideia ( el, Ορμήδεια []), sometimes also spelled ''Ormidhia'', is a village in Larnaca District in south-eastern Cyprus. It is one of the four Cyprus#Exclaves and enclaves, exclaves surrounded by the Eastern Sovereign Base Area of Akrotiri and Dhekelia, a British Overseas Territory administered as a Sovereign Base Area. Xylofagou
Xylofagou ( el, Ξυλοφάγου []) is a sprawling Greek-Cypriot village situated close to the A3 motorway (Cyprus), A3 Motorway between Dhekelia Cantonment, Dhekelia (Larnaca) and Paralimni / Agia Napa. It lies on the northern flank of a hill, on the edge of an area of a group of several similar villages known as the "Kokkinochoria" ("the red villages"), known for growing vegetables, especially potatoes, in red soil.
