''I Avgi'' ( el, Η Αυγή, lit="The Dawn", ) is a daily newspaper published in Athens, Greece. It is called the "Morning newspaper of the Left" and is politically affiliated with Syriza. It was first published in 1952. Manolis Glezos was for years its editor. During the seven-year period (1967–1974) of the Greek military junta, the newspaper stopped its publication which continued after the reinstatement of democracy. Avgi ( el, Αυγή, before 1928: Μπρέστενη - ''Bresteni'', renamed until 1929: Κρύα Νερά - ''Krya Nera'') is a village in Kastoria Regional Unit, Macedonia, Greece. The Greek census (1920) recorded 312 people in the village and in 1923 there were 200 inhabitants (or 40 families) who were Muslim. Following the Greek-Turkish population exchange, in 1926 within Bresteni there were refugee families from East Thrace (2), Asia Minor (8), Pontus (5), the Caucasus The Caucasus () or Caucasia (), is a region between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, mainly comprising Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia (country), Georgia, and parts of Southern Russia. Pineia
Pineia (Greek: Πηνεία) is a former municipality in Elis, West Greece, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Ilida, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 148.572 km2. Its seat of administration was in the village Simopoulo. Pineia is named after the river Pineios, which forms its northern border. The area is hilly and sparsely populated. It is about 20 km east of Amaliada, 25 km northeast of Pyrgos and 45 km southwest of Patras. Avgi ( el, Αυγή) is a village of the Lagkadas municipality, northern Greece. Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Sochos.
