Avery Garrett
Avery Garrett (August 3, 1916 – April 15, 1988) was an American politician in the state of Washington (US state), Washington. He served as Mayor of Renton from 1969 to 1976. He also served in the Washington House of Representatives from 1959 to 1969 for district 47 and from 1977 to 1985 for district 11, and in the Senate from 1985 to 1988. Washington House Of Representatives
The Washington House of Representatives is the lower house of the Washington State Legislature, and along with the Washington State Senate makes up the legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. It is composed of 98 Representatives from 49 districts, each of which elects one Senator and two members of the House. They are elected to separate positions with the top-two primary system. All members of the House are elected to a two-year term without term limits. The House meets at the State Capitol in Olympia. Ella Wintler
Ella Wintler (August 10, 1885 - April 17, 1975) was an American politician who served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives for 20 years including several non-consecutive terms from 1939 to 1965. She represented Washington's 17th and then 49th legislative districts as a Republican. In her final term in office (1963–65), she was elected Speaker Pro Tempore. Early life and education Wintler was born and lived most of her life in Vancouver, Washington. She was the youngest of nine children to father John Jacob Wintler, a Swiss immigrant, and mother Sarah Butler Wintler, who arrived in Vancouver in 1878 having driven mules there from Carthage, Missouri. A 1903 graduate of Vancouver High School, she then taught at several schools before enrolling at the University of Washington. Tom Copeland
Thomas L. Copeland (born April 17, 1924) is an American former politician from Washington. Life and career Copeland was born in Pendleton, Oregon on April 17, 1924, to Edwin and Delia Copeland. He served in the United States Army during World War II, serving in Europe as a tank destroyer commander. After the conclusion of the war, he stayed with the Army as an administrator and was eventually promoted to captain. He is an alumnus of Washington State University, where he majored in agricultural engineering. Copeland was elected to the Washington House of Representatives in 1957, for District 11, which encompassed the counties of Asotin, Columbia, Garfield and parts of Walla Walla. He is a Republican. He served until 1972; during his time he served stints as Whip (1961, 1963), Minority Leader (1965), and Speaker pro tempore (1967–1972). The Washington State Senate is the upper house of the Washington State Legislature. The body consists of 49 members, each representing a district with a population of nearly 160,000. Renton is a city in King County, Washington, United States, and an inner-ring suburb of Seattle.
