Avatarium
Avatarium is a Swedish doom metal band from Stockholm, founded by Candlemass (band), Candlemass member Leif Edling in 2013. Biography In the winter of 2012, Candlemass (band), Candlemass founder and bassist Leif Edling started to work on a new project and wrote a few Demo (music), demos. Looking for musical partners, he first reached out to his friend, Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt, but due to a lack of time, he declined. Therefore, Stockholm-based guitarist Marcus Jidell (Soen, ex-Evergrey, ex-Royal Hunt) offered to help. Soon, Tiamat (band), Tiamat drummer Lars Sköld and keyboardist Carl Westholm joined the new band and the line-up was completed by Jidell's wife Jennie-Ann Smith, whose deep and bluesy voice added a new touch to Edling's typical heavy doom riffs. Leif Edling
Leif Edling (born 6 August 1963) is a Swedish musician, best known as the bassist, main songwriter and one of the founding members of the doom metal band Candlemass (band), Candlemass. He is the only constant member of the band since its inception to the present day. Nevertheless, since the band's second reunion in 2002 Edling has been backed up again by founding rhythm guitarist Mats Björkman, who had been absent from 1997 to 2002. Biography Edling started his musical career in the band Trilogy, then under the name of Toxic, as a singer together with Ian Haugland (later the drummer of Europe (band), Europe) in 1979. He then played in a band named Witchcraft but left in 1981 and formed Nemesis in 1982. Before the Candlemass official releases, Edling also handled vocal duties in addition to playing bass. Anders Iwers (born 6 October 1972) is a Swedish Heavy metal music, heavy metal musician and bassist of the bands Tiamat (band), Tiamat and Avatarium. He is the older brother of former In Flames bassist Peter Iwers, a band which he was lead guitarist of in their early years. Iwers is a former member of the melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity. He is also the former guitarist of bands Ceremonial Oath (also being the founder), Cemetary (band), Cemetary, Lacuna Coil, as well as a co-founder and former session musician for In Flames. Candlemass is a Swedish doom metal band formed in Upplands Väsby Municipality, Upplands Väsby, a suburb of Stockholm, in 1984 by bassist, songwriter, and bandleader Leif Edling, alongside drummer Matz Ekström. Tiamat is a Swedish metal band that formed in Stockholm in 1987 and led by Johan Edlund. The band went through a number of stylistic changes in their earlier releases before settling on gothic metal. History Initially, the band had the name Treblinka and a style of black metal, black/death metal. Roadburn Festival
The Roadburn Festival is an annual music festival held each April in Tilburg, Netherlands. It was founded by Walter Hoeijmakers and Jurgen van den Brand in 1999, who ran a stoner rock blog of the same name. The festival has been held at Tilburg's 013 concert hall since 2005. In the earliest years before that, multiple events were organised in a year throughout various cities in the Netherlands, such as Nijmegen and Eindhoven. It evolved into a multi-day event beginning in 2006, and shortly after, tickets began to sell out for the festival in under an hour as its audience grew internationally.
