Australia Zoo
Australia Zoo is a zoo located in the Australian state of Queensland on the Sunshine Coast near Beerwah/Glass House Mountains. It is a member of the Zoo and Aquarium Association (ZAA), and is owned by Terri Irwin, the widow of Steve Irwin, whose wildlife documentary series ''The Crocodile Hunter'' and his family’s new show ''Crikey! It's the Irwins'' made the zoo a popular tourist attraction. Australia Zoo was opened by Bob and Lyn Irwin on 3 June 1970 under the name Beerwah Reptile and Fauna Park. Their son Steve had helped his parents since childhood to care for crocodiles and reptiles and to maintain the growing number of animals in the zoo. Beerwah () is a rural town and locality in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast Region, Queensland, Australia. At the the locality of Beerwah had a population of 7,734 people. Australia Zoo, located here, is a major tourist attraction and is visited daily by large numbers of local, national and international tourists. Beerwah has transport links to Brisbane and northbound destinations via the Beerwah railway station on the Nambour and Gympie North railway line. Rosedale is a rural town and locality split between the Gladstone Region and the Bundaberg Region in central Queensland, Australia. In the , the locality of Rosedale had a population of 438 people. Geography The town is north of the state capital Brisbane and north west of the regional centre of Bundaberg. The town is on the North Coast railway line. Most of the locality is in the Gladstone Region but a small southern part on the shores of Lake Monduran is in the Bundaberg Region. Brahminy Kite
The brahminy kite (''Haliastur indus''), formerly known as the red-backed sea-eagle in Australia, is a medium-sized bird of prey in the family Accipitridae, which also includes many other diurnal raptors, such as eagles, buzzards, and harriers. Blue-and-yellow Macaw
The blue-and-yellow macaw (''Ara ararauna''), also known as the blue-and-gold macaw, is a large South American parrot with mostly blue top parts and light orange underparts, with gradient hues of green on top of its head. Black-necked Stork
The black-necked stork (''Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus'') is a tall long-necked wading bird in the stork family. It is a resident species across the Indian Subcontinent and Southeast Asia with a disjunct population in Australia. It lives in wetland habitats and near fields of certain crops such as rice and wheat where it forages for a wide range of animal prey. Adult birds of both sexes have a heavy bill and are patterned in white and irridescent blacks, but the sexes differ in the colour of the iris with females sporting yellow irises and males having dark-coloured irises. Barking Owl
The barking owl (''Ninox connivens''), also known as the winking owl, is a nocturnal bird species native to mainland Australia and parts of New Guinea and the Moluccas. They are a medium-sized brown owl and have a characteristic voice with calls ranging from a barking dog noise to a shrill human-like howl of great intensity. Bar-shouldered Dove
The bar-shouldered dove (''Geopelia humeralis'') is a species of long tailed dove native to Australia and Southern New Guinea. It is protected under the ''National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974''. It is a medium-sized pigeon varying in size from . Its voice is a distinctive and melodious "cook-a-wook" or "coolicoo". Description The dove has a blue-grey breast with chequered brown-bronze wings.
