Austrade
The Australian Trade and Investment Commission, or Austrade ( ), is the Australian Government's trade, investment and education promotion agency which was also given responsibility for tourism policy, programs and research from 2013. Austrade was established under the ''Australian Trade Commission Act 1985.'' It is a non-corporate Commonwealth entity under the ''Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013'', and a statutory agency under the ''Public Service Act 1999''. Austrade is part of the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolio. Under Austrade's corporate structure, its chief executive officer is accountable to the Federal Minister for Tourism, Trade and Investment. Alan Jackson (businessman)
Alan Robert Jackson (30 March 1936 – 4 August 2018) was an Australian businessman who was the CEO of BTR Nylex between 1984 and 1990 and CEO of BTR plc between 1990 and 1996 as well as Chairman of Austrade between 1995 and 2001. He was also a board member on the Reserve Bank of Australia between 1991 and 2001. Early life and education Alan Jackson was born in Drouin but grew up in Bunyip, in the Western part of the Gippsland in Victoria. As a child, Jackson attended Warragul High School, leaving in 1952, at the age of 15 to train to became a pastry chef but became an office boy or clerk in Melbourne instead. At 19, he took accountancy studies by correspondence at Hemmingway Robertson Institute. Jackon did not complete his High School Certificate, but did a brief management course at Harvard's Business School in 1977. On 20 January 1962, Jackson married Esme Jackson (née Giles). Robert Johnston (businessman)
Robert Henry Johnston (26 May 1924 – 7 May 1995) was an Australian industrialist and businessman who was the President of Toyota Australia from 1986 to 1994 and was the Chairman of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) between 1993 and 1995. Robert Johnston was born in 1924 in Camperdown in Sydney, New South Wales. He studied at North Newtown Boys' Intermediate High School, where he matriculated in 1938. From there, Johnston began work as a copy-boy at John Fairfax & Sons. However, in June 1942 Johnston was selected for officer training in the Royal Australian Naval Reserve. It was by January 1943, in which he became a midshipman on HMAS Assault and later served on HMAS Kanimbla. He was later promoted to Lieutenant in May 1946. Johnston was decommissioned in June that year in which he later studied at the Sydney Technical College and became an associate of the Australian Society of Accountants. William Duncan Ferris (born 26 July 1945) is an Australian philanthropist and entrepreneur. Paul Ritter (6 April 1925 – 14 June 2010) was an architect, town planner, sociologist, artist and author. Following a world lecturing tour in support of his book "Planning for Man and Motor" Paul Ritter was invited to become to become the inaugural city planner of the City of Perth. Fired after two years, Ritter remained in Western Australia and spent the subsequent two decades serving as Councillor for East Perth. Ritter is remembered as a brilliant, eccentric and often controversial public figure.
