The Austin 400 was a motor racing event for V8 Supercars that took place at the Circuit of the Americas in Travis County near Austin, Texas, United States of America in 2013. History Its inaugural running took place between 17 and 19 May 2013, as the fifth round of the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship. The race marked the category's first event in the United States, and featured four races of . Demise The race was not held in 2014 due to the track hosting the X Games; regarding the scheduling conflict, V8 Supercar chief executive James Warburton stated, "The timing of COTA securing the X Games next year led to the mutual agreement of a gap-year before consolidating, planning and returning to Texas in 2015." On 28 August 2014, it was announced that V8 Supercars and the Circuit of the Americas had agreed to terminate the current contract. Jamie Whincup
Jamie Whincup (born 6 February 1983) is an Australian professional racing driver competing in the Supercars Championship. He currently is team principal for Triple Eight Race Engineering. He has driven the No. 88 Holden ZB Commodore, won a record seven Supercars championship titles, four Bathurst 1000 victories, and a Bathurst 12 Hour victory. Whincup is the all-time record holder in the Supercars Championship for race wins, at 124 career wins. He is also the first driver to win the Jason Richards Memorial Trophy twice at Pukekohe Park Raceway in Auckland, New Zealand. The list of Australian Touring Car Championship Races is a list of all the races or rounds which have been held in the combined 60-year history of the Australian Touring Car Championship, V8 Supercars Championship and Supercars Championship. As of the end of the 2020 season, 1055 championship races have been held since the first race at the Gnoo Blas Motor Racing Circuit in 1960. Since then, the 1,000th championship race was held at the Albert Park Circuit in March 2019. The 2013 Austin 400 was a motor race meeting for the Australasian sedan-based V8 Supercars. It was the fifth event of the 2013 International V8 Supercars Championship. Four races were held during the race meeting. It was the first V8 Supercar event to be held in North America. Jamie Whincup, driving for Triple Eight Race Engineering, dominated the event, continuing his strong form from the previous round at Barbagallo Raceway. The Holden Commodore (VF) is an executive car that was produced by Holden between June 2013 and October 2017. It was the second and last significantly restyled iteration of the fourth (and final) generation of the Holden Commodore to be manufactured in Australia. James Warburton (born 1970) is an Australian businessman who is currently Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Seven West Media. Business career Television executive Warburton had early executive roles at McCann-Erickson, DDB Worldwide and Hyundai Motor Company in the 1980s and 1990s. Warburton became Managing Director of Universal McCann in 2000, winning and retaining multiple significant government and corporate contracts over the following three years. In 2003, Warburton took on his first role in the television industry, becoming sales director of the Seven Network. In 2011, Warburton was poached by Acting CEO Lachlan Murdoch to become CEO of the Ten Network.
