Aussie Rules The World
''Aussie Rules the World'' is a 2014 Australian sports documentary film produced by Second Nature Films, directed by Michael Stringer McIntyre and includes interviews with various Australian Football League personalities, including, among others, former Sydney Swans premiership coach and later coach Paul Roos, four-time premiership coach and foundation coach Kevin Sheedy, former AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou, current player Bachar Houli and incumbent Australian of the Year Adam Goodes. Filmed over a period of four years between 2011 and 2014, it focuses on the sport of Australian rules football and its efforts to spread the game worldwide. The film was released on 22 July 2014. Brett Kirk
Brett Kirk (born 25 October 1976) is a former Australian rules football player of the Sydney Swans and was the AFL's International Ambassador. Kirk is currently serving as an assistant coach with the Sydney Swans. AFL career Kirk grew up in Albury, New South Wales. He was recruited to the Sydney Swans as a mature-aged rookie and was twice dropped from the team, but he found his way back on to the list. Kirk was regarded as "one of the toughest and most respected midfielders in the competition". Kirk played 241 games for the Swans since making his debut in 1999, including the final 200 without missing a match. He was nominated All-Australian in 2004. Kirk won the best and fairest twice, in 2005, the year the club won the AFL premiership, and again in 2007. He was co-captain of the Swans from 2005–2010. ''Better Man'' is a four-part Australian television biopic mini-series which originally screened on SBS TV on 25 July 2013, and replayed in February 2014. It was written and directed by Khoa Do and produced by Stephen Corvini. It starred David Wenham, Bryan Brown, Claudia Karvan and newcomer Remy Hii. Majak Daw
Majak Daw (born 11 March 1991) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club and the Melbourne Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Daw and his family in Australia are refugees from the civil wars in Sudan. Daw became the first Sudanese Australian to be drafted to an AFL club when he was contracted to North Melbourne in the 2009 AFL Draft. The 2011 AFL season was the 115th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured seventeen clubs, with the newly established Gold Coast Suns, based in Gold Coast, Queensland, playing its inaugural season. The 2011 Australian Football International Cup (or IC21) is the fourth edition of the Australian Football International Cup, an international Australian rules football competition run by the Australian Football League.
