Aurelius Maschio
Aurelius Maschio, priest member of the Society of St Francis de Sales (Salesians of Don Bosco), missionary in India, pioneer of the Salesian work in Mumbai, founder of Don Bosco High School (Matunga), was born to Giuseppe Maschio and Orsolina Della Cia on 12 February 1909 at Vazzola, Treviso, Italy. He is considered the patriarch of the Salesian Province of Mumba He died on 9 September 1996 at Mumbai. Don Bosco High School (Matunga)
Don Bosco High School is a Roman Catholic all-male school in Matunga, Mumbai, India. It has a subsidiary which was built in 1970 in Borivali. History In 1937, the general council of Salesians of Don Bosco approved a plan to buy 60,000 square yards (50,000 m2) land in Matunga from the Bombay Municipal Corporation. The Corporation approved the sale on 16 July 1937. The Don Bosco High School (formerly known as The Catholic Educational Institute) run by them was moved from the rented premises at Tardeo to the new Don Bosco campus at Matunga. Fr. Aurelius Maschio was the main pillar behind the creation of the school. The Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians ( it, Basilica di Santa Maria Ausiliatrice) is a church in Turin, northern Italy. Originally part of the home for poor boys founded by John Bosco, it now contains the remains of Don Bosco, and 6,000 relics of other saints. History Giovanni Bosco commissioned the construction of the Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians in order to coordinate all activities related to the Salesians in the Valdocco suburb. The church was designed by Antonio Spezia, who drew inspiration from the facade of San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice. It was built in 1865–1868 by Carlo Buzzetti (one of the first boys of the Oratory). John Melchior Bosco ( it, Giovanni Melchiorre Bosco; pms, Gioann Melchior Bòsch; 16 August 181531 January 1888), popularly known as Don Bosco , was an Italian Catholic priest, educator, writer and saint of the 19th century. Gladys Staines (born c. 1951) is the widow of Australian missionary Graham Staines.
