Aung Thu (MP)
Aung Thu ( my, အောင်သူ; born 9 June 1966) is a Burmese politician who currently serves as a member of parliament in the Mandalay Region Hluttaw for Wundwin No. 2 Constituency. He is a member of the National League for Democracy. Early life Aung Thu was born on 9 June 1966 in Tesu Village, Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region, Myanmar parents to Htun Kyaing and his wife Hla Nyunt. He graduated B.Ecom from Yangon University of Economics. Mandalay Region Hluttaw
Mandalay Region Hluttaw ( my, မန္တလေးတိုင်းဒေသကြီးလွှတ်တော်) is the legislature of the Mandalay Region in Myanmar (Burma). It is a unicameral body, consisting of 76 members, including 57 elected members and 19 military representatives. As of February 2016, the Hluttaw was led by speaker Aung Kyaw Oo of the National League for Democracy (NLD). As of the 2015 general election, the National League for Democracy (NLD) won the most contested seats in the legislature, based on the most recent election results. Regional Hluttaw
Myanmar ( also known as ''Burma'') is divided into twenty-one administrative subdivisions, which include seven states (; ''pyi ne'', ), seven regions (; ''taing detha gyi'', ), five self-administered zones and one self-administered division ( Wa Self-Administered Division). The regions were called divisions prior to August 2010. Each State and Region has a State Hluttaw or Regional Hluttaw made up of elected civilian members and unelected representatives of the Armed Forces. The Constitution of Myanmar grants the Myanmar Armed Forces' Commander-in-Chief the right to appoint military officials to one-third of parliamentary seats, while the remaining two-thirds of seats are elected. 2015 Myanmar General Election
General elections were held in Myanmar on 8 November 2015, with the National League for Democracy winning a supermajority of seats in the combined national parliament. Voting occurred in all constituencies, excluding seats appointed by the military, to select Members of Assembly to seats in both the upper house (the House of Nationalities) and the lower house (the House of Representatives) of the Assembly of the Union, and State and Region Hluttaws.
