Augusto Santos Silva
Augusto Ernesto dos Santos Silva (born 20 August 1956) is a Portuguese sociologist, university professor, and politician who served as the President of the Assembly of the Republic between 2022 and 2024, in the 15th Legislature. From November 2015 to March 2022, he was the Portuguese Minister of Foreign Affairs, in the XXI and XXII Constitutional Governments led by Prime Minister António Costa. Santos Silva had previously served in a number of ministerial roles, namely Minister of Education (2000–2001), Minister of Culture (2001–2002), Minister of Parliamentary Affairs (2005–2009), and Minister of National Defence (2009–2011), having joined the Socialist Party in 1990. The Movement of Socialist Left (, MES) was a Portuguese socialist party, founded shortly after the democratic Carnation Revolution. The party has its roots in a group of Progressive Christians and Radical Socialists that abandoned the Portuguese Democratic Movement/Democratic Electoral Commissions in 1970, still during the dictatorial regime led by Marcello Caetano. In 1974, the initial group was joined by a group dissidents from the Socialist Party. Guilherme Valdemar Pereira de Oliveira Martins (Lisbon, 23 September 1952) is a Portuguese lawyer and politician. His great-great-great uncle was Joaquim Pedro de Oliveira Martins. Biography Martins graduated with a law degree and master's degree in Juridical Economic Science and was an assistant professor at the Law Faculty, University of Lisbon, from 1977–1985.
