August Volberg
August Volberg (18 December 1896 Muuksi, Harju County – 21 June 1982 Tallinn) was an Estonian architect and educator.Eesti kunsti ja arhitektuuri biograafiline leksikon (EKABL). Tallinn: Eesti Entsüklopeediakirjastus, 1996. Page 600 In 1927 he graduated from Tallinn Technical School. 1950-1960 he worked at the architectural bureau Eesti Projekt. From 1946 until 1954, he worked as a lecturer at the Tallinn Polytechnic Institute. From In 1964 until 1981, he was a lecturer at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute; from 1971, he was the institute's head of the department of architecture. Pelguranna ( Estonian for "Refuge Beach") is a subdistrict () in the district of Põhja-Tallinn (North Tallinn) in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is located between Pelgulinn, Kopli and Sitsi and is bordered with the Stroomi Beach by the Kopli Bay (part of Tallinn Bay) to the west, and the Merimets forest park to the south. Houses there mostly consist of 4-9 floor apartment buildings. Pelguranna has a population of 15,142 (). The construction of first residential buildings started in the end of the 1940s. The area was previously known as ''Sitsi karjamaa'' (" Sitsi pasture") but was primarily a wasteland with some kitchen gardens. Peeter Tarvas (until 1940 Treumann; 6 January 1916, in Kuressaare – 23 March 1987, in Tallinn) was an Estonian architect and professor.Eesti kunsti ja arhitektuuri biograafiline leksikon (EKABL). During the period between 1945 and 1954, he taught at the Tallinn Polytechnical Institute, and from 1947 until in 1987, he was a professor at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute faculty (including from 1962 until 1964, the head of the department of architecture, and as vice-rector from 1961 until 1987). Sõprus ('Friendship') is a cinema in Tallinn, Estonia. The building was built in 1955 and it was designed by Peeter Tarvas and August Volberg; interior was designed by Maia Laul. At the beginning, the building's had two halls: so-called red and white hall, both had 396 seats. In 1990s, only one hall was used by the cinema. In 2004, the hall had 282 seats.
