Audrey Sabol
Audrey Sabol (1922 – September 4, 2021) was an entrepreneur, curator, and art collector. She was best known for suggesting to Ed Ruscha that his images of gasoline stations would be a good subject for a fine art print. She published the iconic image ''Standard Station'' in 1966. Sabol was married to Ed Sabol (1916–2015) the founder of Blair Motion Pictures. In 1962 Sabol joined the Fine Arts Committee of the Arts Council of the Young Men's and Young Women's Hebrew Association in Philadelphia. She went on to establish the ''Beautiful Bag Co.'', the ''Durable Dish Co.'', and the ''Rare Ring Co.'' with fellow Pop art enthusiast Joan Kron. In 1967 she was involved with the YM/YWHA sponsored ''Museum of Merchandise'' exhibition in Philadelphia. Ed Ruscha
Edward Joseph Ruscha IV (, ''roo-SHAY''; born December 16, 1937) is an American artist associated with the pop art movement. He has worked in the media of painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and film. He is also noted for creating several Artist's book, artist's books. His works is often associated with the Pop art, Pop Art movement. Ruscha lives and works in Culver City, California. Early life and education Ruscha was born into a Roman Catholic family in Omaha, Nebraska, with an older sister, Shelby, and a younger brother, Paul. Edward Ruscha, Sr. was an auditor for The Hartford, Hartford Insurance Company. Ruscha's mother was supportive of her son's early signs of artistic skill and interests. Young Ruscha was attracted to cartooning and would sustain this interest throughout his adolescent years. Ed Sabol
Edwin Milton Sabol (September 11, 1916 – February 9, 2015) was an American filmmaker and the founder (with his son Steve Sabol, among others) of NFL Films. He was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 as a contributor due to his works with NFL Films. Biography Early life, education, and career Sabol was born to a Jewish mother and Romanian father in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1916 and raised in Blairstown, New Jersey. While attending Blair Academy, he excelled in several sports, and set a World Interscholastic Swimming record in the 100-yard freestyle race. He continued his noted swimming career at Ohio State University. He was selected for the 1936 Olympic team but refused to participate because of the games' connections to Nazi Germany. Archives Of American Art
The Archives of American Art is the largest collection of primary resources documenting the history of the visual arts in the United States. More than 20 million items of original material are housed in the Archives' research centers in Washington, D.C. and New York City. As a research center within the Smithsonian Institution, the Archives houses materials related to a variety of American visual art and artists. All regions of the country and numerous eras and art movements are represented. Among the significant artists represented in its collection are Jackson Pollock, Lee Krasner, Marcel Breuer, Rockwell Kent, John Singer Sargent, Winslow Homer, John Trumbull, and Alexander Calder.
