Auchterarder Thistle Football Club was a Association football, football club from the village of Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland. History The club was founded before the 1897–98 season as a "third-class club" replacement for Vale of Ruthven F.C., the village's senior club which had been dissolved. The club applied to play in the Perth City and County League in 1900, but was turned down. However, before the season started the club was admitted to membership of the Scottish Football Association, making the club a senior club. The club therefore entered the Scottish Qualifying Cup for 1900–01, and was drawn away at Tulloch F.C.,; Thistle won the tie 10–1. The club lost in the third round to St Johnstone F.C., St Johnstone. Thistle's best run in the Qualifying Cup was in 1902–03. Fair City Athletics F.C., Fair City Athletics withdrew in the first round, the Thistle had a bye in the second, and beat Tulloch in the third. Robert Cumming Hamilton (13 May 1877 – 1948) was a Scottish international footballer, most notable for his ten-season association with Rangers. Playing career Club Hamilton started his footballing career with local side Elgin City in the Highland League. He relocated to Glasgow in 1896 to attend the city's University, and joined Queen's Park. A year later he joined Rangers where he remained until 1907, earning a reputation as a potent goal-scorer who was particularly accurate from long range. Dunblane (, gd, Dùn Bhlàthain) is a small town in the council area of Stirling in central Scotland, and inside the historic boundaries of the county of Perthshire. It is a commuter town, with many residents making use of good transport links to much of the Central Belt, including Glasgow and Edinburgh. Auchterarder (; gd, Uachdar Àrdair, meaning Upper Highland) is a small town located north of the Ochil Hills in Perth and Kinross, Scotland, and home to the Gleneagles Hotel.
