Aub
Aub () is a town in the Würzburg (district), district of Würzburg, in Bavaria, Germany, southeast of Würzburg and northwest of Rothenburg ob der Tauber, near the border of Baden-Württemberg. It is fed by the river Gollach and divided into three parts: Aub, Baldersheim and Burgerroth. History The earlier territory of the Catholic Church in Würzburg became part of Bavaria when the government was secularized in 1805. The present municipality was created during the administrative reforms of 2010. Rothenburg ob der Tauber () is a town located in the district of Ansbach (district), Ansbach of Mittelfranken (Middle Franconia), the Franconia region of Bavaria, Germany. It is well known for its well-preserved Middle Ages, medieval old town, a destination for tourists from around the world. It is part of the popular Romantic Road through southern Germany. Tilman Riemenschneider
Tilman Riemenschneider ( 1460 – 7 July 1531) was a German wood carving, woodcarver and sculptor active in Würzburg from 1483. He was one of the most prolific and versatile sculptors of the transition period between the Gothic art, Late Gothic, to which he essentially belonged, and Northern Renaissance art, a master in Tilia, limewood and stone. He was also a local politician in the council of Würzburg. Most of his subjects are religious, including several very large and spectacular carved wood altarpieces, as well as tombs in stone, and statues. He was largely forgotten soon after his death, but rediscoved by art historians in the 19th century. Würzburg is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the northwestern part of Bavaria, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from the north, clockwise) Main-Spessart, Schweinfurt, Kitzingen, Neustadt (Aisch)-Bad Windsheim, and the district Main-Tauber in Baden-Württemberg.
