Atil
Atil (also Itil) , was the capital of the Khazar Khaganate from the middle of the 8th century until the end of the 10th century. Known to have been situated on the Silk Road in the vicinity of the Caspian Sea, its precise location has long been unknown. In 2008, a site at Samosdelka, a village in the Volga Delta some 30 km south-west of Astrakhan has been identified as the site of Atil. The name ''Atil'' is from Turkic phrase meaning "great river", a name of the Volga River. History Atil was located along the Volga delta at the northwestern corner of the Caspian Sea. Following the defeat of the Khazars in the Second Arab-Khazar War, Atil became the capital of Khazaria. Ibn Khordadbeh, writing in ca. 870, names ''Khamlij'' as the capital of the Khazars. This is presumably a rendition of Turkic ''khaganbaligh'' "city of the khan" and refers to the city later (in the 10th century) named as ''Atil'' in Arab historiography. Atıl İnaç
Atıl İnaç (born 22 March 1975) is a Turkish film director. Early life İnaç was born into a family of filmmakers: his mother was a screenwriter and his father a producer. İnaç went to the United States for high school education. Upon graduation, he studied philosophy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Later, İnaç earned his degree in Boğaziçi University (Istanbul), Philosophy Department. He continued his academic studies at Claremont Graduate University - Philosophy Department, specializing in philosophy of language. He worked as a producer for TRT (Turkish Radio Television) in 3 radio shows which were broadcast nationwide in Turkey. İnaç's amateur studies in jazz music led him to produce and host jazz-oriented radio shows on Acik Radyo, a prominent, private Turkish radio station. Atil, Sonora
Atil (also Átil) is a small town in Atil Municipality in the northwest of the Mexican state of Sonora. The total area is 400.43 km² and the population of the municipality was 734 in 2005, of whom 699 lived in the municipal seat (2000). Neighboring municipalities are Tubutama, Trincheras, Oquitoa, and Altar. It was founded in 1751 by the Jesuit missionary Jacobo Sedelmayer as a mission with the name of Atil. The first inhabitants were Pima Alto or Nebome Indians, who before conversion had led a nomadic or semi-nomadic life. Atil is one of the smallest municipalities in the state. It is said that its name means "Arrow Point", in the Pima language. The terrain is desert and mostly flat. Summer temperatures average 25.6 °C but daytime extremes are frequently above 40 °C.
