Lionel Alfred William Atwill (1 March 1885 – 22 April 1946) was an English and American stage and screen actor. He began his acting career at the Garrick Theatre. After coming to the United States, he appeared in Broadway plays and Hollywood films. Some of his more significant roles were in '' Captain Blood'' (1935), '' Son of Frankenstein'' (1939) and '' To Be or Not to Be'' (1942). Life and career Atwill was born on 1 March 1885 in Croydon, London, England. He studied architecture before his stage debut at the Garrick Theatre, London, in 1904. He became a star in Broadway theatre by 1918 and made his screen debut in 1919. Henry Converse Atwill
Henry Converse Atwill (1872–1936) was an American politician who served as Massachusetts Attorney General from 1915 to 1919. He was born in Lynn in 1872. Atwill served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1896 to 1898 and the Massachusetts Senate from 1899 to 1901. From 1905 to 1910 he was an Assistant District Attorney in Essex County, Massachusetts Essex County is a County (United States), county in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Massachusetts. At the 2020 United States census, 2020 census, the total population was 809,829, making it the third-most populous county in the stat .... When District Attorney W. Scott Peters retired, Atwill was elected to succeed him.
