English is a West Germanic language of the Indo-European language family, with its earliest forms spoken by the inhabitants of early medieval England. Alan Stanford (born 1949) is an English-Irish actor, director and writer. He has worked in the theatre for many years, including a 30 year association with the Gate Theatre as both actor and director. He is well known for playing George Manning in the popular Irish drama series ''Glenroe''. Personal life Though originally from Liverpool, Alan Stanford's childhood was spent on the Isle of Wight in the South of England. He was an only child. He trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Stanford moved to Ireland in 1969 after touring there and eventually became an Irish citizen. Aiden Grennell (January 10, 1920 - January 13, 2001) was an Irish actor. He is known for his roles in Michael Collins (1996), In the Name of the Father (1993) and Driftwood (1997). Aiden was born in Dublin, Ireland as the only child of Aiden Peter Joseph and Stella Mary. He married actress Iris Lawler in 1949 after their engagement while performing together in Salisbury. His funeral was held at at Terenure College Chapel in Dublin. In his 20's, Aiden joined Longford Productions and later became a member of RTE Players for 13 years where he was cast in over 22 productions. Christopher Casson
Christopher T. Casson (20 March 1912 – 9 July 1996) was an English-born actor who became a citizen of Ireland in 1946. His work included stage, screen, radio and television roles. His portrayal of a Church of Ireland canon in the long-running series ''The Riordans'' made him known nationwide. Kieran Hickey
Kieran Hickey (29 February 1936 – 13 July 1993) was an Irish film producer and director. Life Kieran Hickey was born in Dublin in 1936. He moved to London in the late 1950s, where he enrolled in the London School of Film Technique, Brixton. He became a close friend of David Thomson, the British film-writer. He moved back to Dublin in the early 1960s, establishing BAC Films, Ltd. Hickey is known for his documentaries and modern Irish fictional dramas. Due to budget limitations, none of his films were full-length features. Hickey died on 13 July 1993. Thomson stated after his death that for him "the movies are over now that he's gone".
