Attila Dargay
Attila Dargay (June 20, 1927 – October 20, 2009) was a Hungarian comics artist and animator. He was born in Mezőnyék. Life He began working as a scenery painter for the Hungarian National Theatre in the late 1940s. He directed such animations productions as '' Hajra, Mozdony!'' (1972), '' Mattie the Goose-boy'' (1977), ''The Little Fox'' (1981), '' The Treasure of Swamp Castle'' (1985), and '' Captain of the Forest'' (1988). He studied at the College of Fine Arts in Budapest until 1948 when he was discharged because of political reasons. From 1951 he worked as a stage setting painter at Hungary's National Theatre, and in parallel he worked as a trainee on animated films, from 1954 he worked as a cartoon planner. He became an animated-film director in 1957, his first independent director-piece being the ''Don't give in little man!'' (''Ne hagyd magad emberke!'') in 1959. Animation
Animation is a filmmaking technique whereby still images are manipulated to create moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and exhibited on film. Animation has been recognised as an artistic medium, specifically within the entertainment industry. The Seventh Brother
''The Seventh Brother'' (; ) is a 1995 Hungarian-German-American animated fantasy-comedy-drama film for children made and produced at Hungary's Pannonia Film Studio. It was co-produced with Magyar Televízió, Germany's RealFilm, and the U.S. outlet Feature Films for Families. Plot summary The story begins in the forest, with the viewer being addressed by Dr. Albert E. Owl, a "famous storyteller". Noting that the viewer is lost in the forest, he decides to recount the tale of Tiny, a Jack Russell Terrier puppy, the seventh brother (occasionally interspersing his story with various comments of his own). Nyékládháza
Nyékládháza is a small town in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, northern Hungary, from county capital Miskolc. History The area has been inhabited since ancient times; archaeological finds include an Avar cemetery. The villages Mezőnyék and Ládháza came into being around the conquest of Hungary; they were mentioned first in 1270 and 1293, respectively, although Mezőnyék had a different name then and had this name only from the 14th century. The name changes indicate that the villages were destroyed several times, but were rebuilt again and again. The two villages were unified in 1932 under the name Nyékládháza. The village got town status in 2003. The local Roman Catholic church was built and completely financed in 1943 by the landowner József Lenz (1897–1965), who was also commercial counselor and merchant.
