Atrium (heart)
The atrium (; : atria) is one of the two Heart#Chambers, upper chambers in the heart that receives blood from the circulatory system. The blood in the atria is pumped into the Ventricle (heart), heart ventricles through the atrioventricular valve, atrioventricular mitral valve, mitral and tricuspid valve, tricuspid heart valves. There are two atria in the human heart – the left atrium receives blood from the pulmonary circulation, and the right atrium receives blood from the venae cavae of the systemic circulation. During the cardiac cycle, the atria receive blood while relaxed in diastole, then contract in systole to move blood to the ventricles. Each atrium is roughly cube-shaped except for an ear-shaped projection called an atrial appendage, previously known as an auricle. In neuroanatomy, the ventricular system is a set of four interconnected cavities known as cerebral ventricles in the brain. Within each ventricle is a region of choroid plexus which produces the circulating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). The ventricular system is continuous with the central canal of the spinal cord from the fourth ventricle, allowing for the flow of CSF to circulate. The Amot Atrium Tower () is an office skyscraper on Jabotinsky Street near the Diamond Exchange District in the Tel Aviv District city of Ramat Gan, Israel. Atrium Casino is the name of the casino at Dax in the south-west of France. It is listed under the relevant legislation as an historical building. Origins In 1925 the local mayor, Eugène Milliès-Lacroix, proposed the construction of a casino in order to boost the appeal of the town's spa based tourist industry. The Paris architect André Granet, assisted by Roger-Henri Expert was mandated to implement the project. The sponsors and architects were keen that the new casino, built directly after the Salle Pleyel in Paris and shortly before the launch of the SS Normandie, should respect the still challenging Art Deco trends of the time. The Winter Garden Atrium is a , 10-story glass-vaulted pavilion on Vesey Street in New York City's Brookfield Place (formerly World Financial Center) office complex. Designed by Diana Balmori, the Atrium was originally constructed in 1988, and substantially rebuilt in 2002, after it was damaged by the collapse of the World Trade Center during the September 11 attacks.
