Atlas Against The Cyclops
''Atlas in the Land of the Cyclops'' (Italian: ''Maciste nella terra dei ciclopi'') is a 1961 Italian epic adventure film starring Gordon Mitchell and Chelo Alonso. Plot Queen Capys is doomed to a life of slavery by the Powers of Darkness until the last descendant of Ulysses is put to death to please the Cyclops. This is almost accomplished in a raid on a village by the Queen's soldiers where a descendant of Ulysses is killed and his wife enslaved; however, their infant son is taken away to be protected by Maciste. Antonio Leonviola
Antonio Leonviola, sometimes Leon Viola (13 May 1913 – 4 August 1995), was an Italian screenwriter and film director and co-founder of the "Libera Università del Cinema di Roma". Life and career Leonviola was born in 1913 in Montagnana as Antonio Leone Viola. In 1934, he won a gold medal at the Venice Film Festival for his silent film ''Fiera di tipi'', which he shot at a fair in Padua. He worked as war photographer during World War II, an experience that he reflected in a few short films including ''La battaglia dell'Amba Alagi'' and ''La marcia degli eroi''. After the war, Leonviola worked as a screenwriter in a number of adventure films and in 1942 directed his first feature film, ''Rita da Cascia''. After a long break, he returned as director in 1951 with a crime film, ''The Temptress (1952 film), The Temptress'', which was celebrated by critics. Maciste () is one of the oldest recurring characters of cinema, created by Gabriele d'Annunzio and Giovanni Pastrone. He is featured throughout the history of the cinema of Italy from the 1910s to the mid-1960s. He is usually depicted as a Hercules-like figure, utilizing his massive strength to achieve heroic feats that ordinary men cannot.
