Atlantic Jaxx
Atlantic Jaxx Recordings is a record company founded by dance music duo Basement Jaxx. Originally based in Camberwell and then Brixton, it was an outlet for releasing Basement Jaxx music. Its first release was "EP1" which was played by DJ Tony Humphries on New York Radio in 1994. Dance Music
Dance music is music composed specifically to facilitate or accompany dancing. It can be either a whole musical piece or part of a larger musical arrangement. In terms of performance, the major categories are live dance music and recorded dance music. While there exist attestations of the combination of dance and music in ancient times (for example Ancient Greek vases sometimes show dancers accompanied by musicians), the earliest Western dance music that we can still reproduce with a degree of certainty are old fashioned dances. In the Baroque period, the major dance styles were noble court dances (see Baroque dance). In the classical music era, the minuet was frequently used as a third movement, although in this context it would not accompany any dancing. The waltz also arose later in the classical era. Basement Jaxx
Basement Jaxx are an English electronic music duo consisting of Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe. The pair got their name from the regular club night they held in Brixton, London, UK. They first rose to popularity in the underground house scene of the mid-1990s, but would go on to find international chart success and win Best Dance Act at both the 2002 and 2004 BRIT Awards. History 1992–98: Formation In 1992, Simon Ratcliffe began releasing white label records, gaining him the attention of several music producers including LTJ Bukem and Goldie. The success of these releases enabled him to buy a few electronic musical instruments and set up a basic studio in a friend's mother's basement. Morning Gloryville
Morning Gloryville (originally named Morning Glory) is a sober, drug-free morning rave event in the United Kingdom. Morning Gloryville was founded in 2013 by Nico Thoemmes and Samantha Moyo. It was designed to be "fun... without the alcohol", and an alternative to the morning gym. One of the aims is to "reengage people with a form of exercise" without the negative health impacts of drugs and alcohol. The original event occurs once a month in Shoreditch, East London. Since then Morning Gloryville has expanded to 14 cities around the world. The event is not exclusively raving, but also includes yoga and massage. Because the event is drug and alcohol free it is also popular with families and children. Notable DJs to have performed at the events include Basement Jaxx.
