Atinvicitinib
Atinvicitinib is a veterinary medicinal product under investigation for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in dogs. Atinvicitinib is a selective Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, highly selective for Janus kinase 1 (JAK1). It inhibits the function of a variety of cytokines involved in itch and inflammation, as well as cytokines involved in allergy, that are dependent on JAK1 enzyme activity. Reduction of allergy mediated inflammation, which is dependent on JAK1 enzyme activity, leads to a reduction of inflammation associated white blood cell counts (within the reference range). Atopic dermatitis (AD), also known as atopic eczema, is a long-term type of inflammation of the skin. Atopic dermatitis is also often called simply eczema but the same term is also used to refer to dermatitis, the larger group of skin conditions. A Janus kinase inhibitor, also known as JAK inhibitor or jakinib, is a type of immune modulating medication, which inhibits the activity of one or more of the Janus kinase family of enzymes ( JAK1, JAK2, JAK3, TYK2), thereby interfering with the JAK-STAT signaling pathway in lymphocytes. JAK inhibitors are used in the treatment of some cancers and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and various skin conditions.
