Athura ( ''Aθurā'' ), also called Assyria, was a geographical area within the Achaemenid Empire in Upper Mesopotamia from 539 to 330 BC as a military protectorate state. Although sometimes regarded as a satrapy, Achaemenid royal inscriptions list it as a ''dahyu'' (plural ''dahyāva''), a concept generally interpreted as meaning either a group of people or both a country and its people (in this case Assyria and the Assyrians), without any administrative implication. Attur or Atturu is a village coming under Kemral post office in Dakshina Kannada(South Kanara) district of Karnataka state in India. It is near to Kinnigoli town. Nandini river originates from eastern part of Kateel at Muchur and the origin is further up to 20km near small village arteri. Salem District is one of the 38 districts of Tamil Nadu state in southern India. The district is now divided into Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Namakkal as individual districts. Athoor is a town in the Dindigul district of India between Dindigul and Batlagundu about 3 km west of Sempatti. It is one of the legislative assemblies of Tamil Nadu. Attur Taluk is one of the ''taluks'', or administrative division of Salem District in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. The division's headquarters is Attur town.
