Athup Lepcha
Athup Lepcha is an Indian politician and environmental activist. He is the vice president of Hamro Sikkim Party (HSP) and the president of " Affected Citizens of Teesta" (ACT), Non-governmental organization for environment and biodiversity. Political career In 1979 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election, Athup Lepcha stood as a candidate of Sikkim Janata Parishad (SJP) from Djongu Constituency. He won and beat the candidate of Janata Party, incumbent chief minister of Sikkim, Kazi Lhendup Dorjee. Athup Lepcha appointed to the State Minister for Forest and Environment in Nar Bahadur Bhandari ministry. In 1984, Athup Lepcha became one of the leaders of anti-Bhandari, and denounced the corruption of Bhandari. Bhandari ousted Athup Lepcha from his political party. In 1985 Sikkim Legislative Assembly election, Athup Lepcha stood as a candidate of Indian National Congress (INC). Mangan, Sikkim
Mangan is the headquarter of the district of Mangan District in the Indian state of Sikkim. The town lying near River Teesta is connected to the capital Gangtok by a metalled road. Mangan District is the largest district of Sikkim in terms of area. The town lies in the geographic south of the district. After the opening up of the district, Mangan has witnessed a spurt in its economy, mostly due to organic farming. The town opens up the Tibetan Plateau. Bhaichung Bhutia (born 15 December 1976), also spelled as Baichung Bhutia, is an Indian former professional footballer who played as a striker. Bhutia is considered as the torchbearer of Indian football in the international arena. He is often nicknamed the ''Sikkimese Sniper'' because of his shooting skills in football. Sikkim Sangram Parishad
Sikkim Sangram Parishad is a regional political party in the Indian state of Sikkim. In 1979, after a period of instability, a ministry headed by Nar Bahadur Bhandari from Sikkim Janata Parishad party gained power in Sikkim. In 1984, Bhandari dissolved Sikkim Janata Parishad and formed a new party called Sikkim Sangram Parishad. Sikkim Sangram Parishad held on to power in the 1984 and 1989 elections, but after that lost to Sikkim Democratic Front, which has swept the elections since 1999. Sikkim Sangram Parishad did not win any seats in the state assembly in the 2004 elections. Nar Bahadur Bhandari has merged Sikkim Sangram Parishad with the Indian National Congress and he became the president of the Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee (SPCC).
