Athinaikos A.C. (, full name Athinaikos Athletic Club) is a Greek multisport-club, founded in 1917. It is based in Vyronas, a suburb east of Athens. Athinaikos has football, basketball, and handball teams. Its achievements comprise Panhellenic championships and cups in women's basketball, Panhellenic championships and cups in women's and men's handball, as well as a European cup in women's basketball. The team's colours are red and yellow and the team’s emblem is a plane-tree leaf. The nickname of the club is Lords of Vyronas. Greek Women's Basketball League
The Greek women's Basketball League, also known as A1 Ethniki (A1 National) Women's Basketball is the most important competition of Greek women's professional basketball. It is organised by the EOK (Hellenic Basketball Federation). It began with the 1967–68 season. The first championship of the league, which was held in the 1967–68 season, was organised by ΕΟΑΠ (Greek language, Greek: ''Ελληνική Ομοσπονδία Αθλοπαιδιών''). Two years later, the Hellenic Basketball Federation, EOK assumed control of the competition. Iraklis Thessaloniki Women's Basketball, Iraklis Thessaloniki won the inaugural championship of the league, in the 1967–68 season. Greek Men's Handball Cup
The Greek Handball Cup is the second more important competition of Greek handball. The Cup is organised by the Hellenic Handball Federation (Greek: ΟΧΕ). The first Cup took place in 1982–83 season. Athinaikos women's basketball is the women's professional basketball team of the Athens-based multi-sports club Athinaikos, that was founded in 1917. The team competes in the Greek Women's Basketball League. History Athinaikos has starred in the women's Greek League championship during recent years, winning four consecutive championships, and three consecutive women's Greek Cups. The Super League Greece 1 (), or Stoiximan Super League for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Greece and the highest level of the Greek football league system. The league was formed on 16 July 2006 and replaced ''Alpha Ethniki'' at the top of the Greek league system. The members of the cooperative are the Football Limited Companies (P.A.E.) that have the right to participate in the Super League 1 championship. The EuroCup Women (officially ''FIBA EuroCup Women'') is the second-level basketball competition with teams from associate members of FIBA Europe. It succeeds the Ronchetti Cup. The Greek Men's Handball Championship, or Handball Premier, is the most important competition of Greek handball. The competition which is organised by Hellenic Handball Federation (Greek: ΟΧΕ) started in the 1979–80 season. The most successful team is Ionikos Nea Filadelfeia who has won ten titles. The last title was won by Olympiacos H.C., Olympiacos. Vyronas
Vyronas () is a suburban town and a municipality in the southeastern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. The town is named after George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, the famous English poet and writer, who is a national hero of Greece. Formerly part of the municipality of Athens, Vyronas was created as a community in 1933, and became a municipality in 1934. The municipality has an area of 9.204 km2. The National Stadium of Vyronas is located in the town of Vyronas, located east of Athens, at the foot of Mount Imittos, only 3 km away from Athens city proper. The stadium is next to the cemetery, in the end of Vyronas. The stadium was created in an old quarry, so it is also known as the "''damaria''", which means quarry.
