The Athens Democracy Forum (ADF), in association with ''The New York Times ''The New York Times'' (''the Times'', ''NYT'', or the Gray Lady) is a daily newspaper based in New York City with a worldwide readership reported in 2020 to comprise a declining 840,000 paid print subscribers, and a growing 6 million paid ...'', is an international conference organized by The Democracy and Culture Foundation. It is held annually in September or October and has taken place in Athens, Greece since 2013. The forum brings together international business leaders, academics, policy makers, young people and activists to discuss and focus on new solutions to the most pressing issues facing democracy. Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen (; Albrecht, born 8 October 1958) is a German politician who has been serving as the president of the European Commission since 2019. Yascha Benjamin Mounk (born 10 June 1982) is a German-born American political scientist. , he is currently Associate Professor of the Practice of International Affairs at Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies in Washington, DC. Early life Mounk was born and raised in Munich. His mother was Jewish and a socialist and was forced to leave Poland in 1969 due to antisemitism.
