Athena Pathway
Athena Pathway is a British sailing team created in 2022 to compete for the 2024 2024 Unicredit Youth America's Cup, Youth and 2024 PUIG Women's America's Cup, Women's editions of the America's Cup. The team was established in 2022 with the ambition of building a Long-Term, Equitable Pathway in High-Performance Sailing an winning the 2024 Youth and Women's America's Cup for Great Britain and to 'bring the cup home' to the United Kingdom and also . In 2024 the team challenged for the Youth and Women's America's Cup in Barcelona, representing the Royal Yacht Squadron. Formation and facilities Athena Pathway, representing the Royal Yacht Squadron, was launched in August 2022 by Hannah Mills OBE and Sir Ben Ainslie, two of Britain's most successful Olympic sailors, with the aim of fast-tracking development in high-performance sailing and bringing diversity to the sport and the UK marine industry more broadly. Sir Ben Ainslie
Sir Charles Benedict Ainslie (born 5 February 1977) is a British competitive sailor. Ainslie is the most successful sailor in Olympic history. He won medals at five consecutive Olympics from 1996 onwards, including gold at four consecutive Games from 2000 to 2012. He is one of three men to win medals in five different Olympic Games in sailing, doing so after Torben Grael and Robert Scheidt, and the second to win four gold medals, after Paul Elvstrøm. Ainslie is CEO of Athena Sports Group which includes the roles of Team Principal, CEO and Skipper of Athena Racing and CEO of the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team. Anna Burnet
Anna Burnet (born 27 September 1992) is a British Olympic silver medallist and two-time world champion in sailings Mixed multihull Olympic discipline. She lives in Scotland. In 2020 she became world champion in the Nacra 17 World Championship with partner John Gimson. They were selected for the British Olympic team and gained silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The pair continued their good run to win the 2021 World and European Championships. Early life and career Burnet was born in 1992. Her father was keen on sailing and her uncle, an inspiration, was the sailor Sir Peter Blake. As a teenager she went to train with Olympian Joe Glanfield who helped her to plan her ambitions to think about attending one to win at one later. Saskia Clark
Saskia Clark (born 23 August 1979 in Colchester, Essex) is a British sailor and Olympic Gold medalist. She competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and she was selected, along with Hannah Mills, to sail in the 470 Women's class for Team GB. They went on to win silver at the 2012 Olympic games and a gold medal at the 2016 games. Life Saskia started sailing at Dabchicks Sailing Club in an Optimist when she was 8 years old She came 6th in the 2008 Summer Olympics sailing in the 470 class with Christina Bassadone. Ellie Aldridge
Eleanor Aldridge MBE (born 29 December 1996) is a British sailor from Dorset who competes in women's kite foiling. She won the 2023 Formula Kite European Championships and took the silver that year in the World Championships. At the 2024 Paris Olympics, Aldridge won a gold medal in the women's Formula Kite event. Early life Aldridge was born on 29 December 1996 in Poole, Dorset. She was first introduced to sailing when she was seven years old and joined the Parkstone Yacht Club where she experimented with sailing dinghies. Artemis Racing is a professional sailing team founded in 2006 by businessman and sailor Torbjörn Törnqvist, named after Artemis, the ancient Greek goddess. Alinghi Red Bull Racing
Alinghi, or Alinghi Red Bull Racing because of the sports marketing branding by Red Bull, is the syndicate set up by Ernesto Bertarelli, racing under the colors of the Société Nautique de Genève, to challenge for the America's Cup, as well as other competitions. Bertarelli had raced several smaller yachts named ''Alinghi'' previously, but 2003 was his first attempt at the America's Cup. Alinghi challenged for and won the 2003 America's Cup in Auckland New Zealand and successfully defended it at the 2007 America's Cup in Valencia, Spain. Orient Express Racing Team is a French yacht racing team that competes in International America's Cup Class races. The team has formally competed as K-Challenge, Areva Challenge (between 2005 and 2007) and ALL4ONE Challenge. Hannah Mills
Hannah Louise Mills (born 29 February 1988) is a British competitive sailor and two-time world champion in the 470 class, having won in 2012 and 2019. Mills won a silver medal for Team GB with her crew Saskia Clark in the 2012 Olympics, she followed this up with a gold in the same event at both the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and, partnered by Eilidh McIntyre, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Mills is currently the on-board strategist for the ''Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team'' competing in the SailGP worldwide competition. In 2022, Mills and Ben Ainslie launched Athena Pathway, a programme to help fast-track development for female and youth sailors. American Magic is an American yacht racing team formed to compete for the 36th America's Cup. They represent the New York Yacht Club and were formed in 2018 by principals Hap Fauth, Roger Penske, and Doug DeVos.
