Neville Alexander Crichton (born 4 June 1945) is a New Zealand-born Australian people, Australian businessman who was also a competitor in Australasian motor and yacht racing. Early life and background Born on a dairy farm in Otago, New Zealand, Crichton developed a skill for selling bicycles and left Rotorua Boys' High School, aged 14 years, to start selling tractors and hay balers, door-to-door. Career Automotive industry Crichton entered the automotive industry in his local Ford New Zealand, Ford Car dealership, dealership, where he was promoted to sales manager. A short time later, he became general manager of a General Motors New Zealand, General Motors dealership. In 1972, he acquired an ailing used car operation; and in 1977 he acquired the Mazda North American Operations, Mazda distributorship for the state of Hawaii. Chery Automobile Co. Ltd., Doing business as, trading as Chery (), is a Chinese automobile manufacturer owned by Chery Holding Group Co., Ltd. Founded in 1997, it is currently the fourth largest automobile manufacturer group in China, with 2,603,916 vehicles sold in 2024. The company is headquartered in Wuhu, Anhui, China; and currently under the ownership of the Wuhu municipal government. Chery was founded in 1997 by government officials of Wuhu, who appointed Yin Tongyue, the current chairman, as the company's first technical director. Chery launched its first car called the Chery A11, Fengyun in 1999, using a licensed SEAT chassis. During its early years, Chery utilized technologies from other manufacturers; some were licensed and others were acquired by reverse engineering.
