Atar Arad (Hebrew: עתר ארד; born 8 March 1945) is an Israeli American violist, professor of music, essayist and composer. Biography Arad and his brother, architect Ron Arad, were born in Tel Aviv, Israel. Arad began his training on the violin in Tel Aviv and received an Artist Diploma in 1966 from the Samuel Rubin Israeli Academy of Music. In 1968 he was selected for study at Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth in Waterloo, Belgium, earning a Laureate there in 1971 and a Diplome Superieure from Brussels Conservatory in 1973. Having decided to devote himself to the viola in 1971, he entered the Carl Flesch International Competition in 1972 as a violist, winning the City of London prize (second prize) in his first public appearance with the instrument. Doron Ben-Atar
Doron Ben-Atar (born 25 May 1957) is an Israeli-born American historian and playwright. He is a professor of history at Fordham University in New York City. Biography Doron Ben-Atar was born in Kfar Shmaryahu, Israel. His father, Arye Ben-Atar, immigrated to Mandatory Palestine from Turkey in 1936. He was a basketball player for Maccabi Tel Aviv. His mother is a Holocaust survivor from Poland. In 2006, Ben-Atar wrote a play based on his mother's experiences, ''Behave Yourself Quietly.'' In the 1970s, Ben-Atar, who is two meters tall, followed in his father's footsteps and began to play basketball. He studied at Tichon Hadash high school in Tel Aviv and joined Peace Now, taking part in left-wing demonstrations. In 1988, he worked for Israel's Meretz party. Eliran Atar ( he, אלירן עטר; born 17 February 1987) is an Israeli professional footballer who plays for Bnei Yehuda as a forward. Early life Atar was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, to a Moroccan Jewish family. Club career Bnei Yehuda On 7 February 2009, when playing for Bnei Yehuda, Atar scored from an overhead kick that was a candidate for the 2009 Puskás Award, though finishing fourth (i.e., the fourth most beautiful goal of that year).
