Atanas Shopov
Atanas Shopov ( bg, Атанас Шопов; born 4 October 1951) of Bulgaria is a former weightlifter who competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics and 1976 Summer Olympics. Biography He was born October 4, 1951, in Dobrovnitsa village near Pazardzhik. He won the silver medal in the 90 kg category at the 1972 Summer Olympics and the bronze at the 1976 Summer Olympics. He also won the bronze at the 1971 European Weightlifting Championships The 1971 European Weightlifting Championships were held at the Universiada Hall in Sofia, Bulgaria from June 19 to June 27, 1971. This was the 50th edition of the event. There were 123 men in action from 23 nations. Pazardzhik
Pazardzhik ( bg, Пазарджик ) is a city situated along the banks of the Maritsa river, southern Bulgaria. It is the capital of Pazardzhik Province and centre for the homonymous Pazardzhik Municipality. The Tatars founded Pazardzhik in the end of the XIV century, which they named it ''Tatar-Pazardzhik''. The population was predominantly muslim. The economy grew over the centuries with the prosper trading of iron, leather and rice.
