Atalanta Bergamasca Calcio Under-23, or simply Atalanta U23, is a professional football club based in Bergamo, Lombardy, Italy, which acts as the reserve team of club Atalanta. Founded on 4 August 2023, the club competes in Serie C Group A and the Coppa Italia Serie C. History Historically, Atalanta has been known for its youth academy, both in Italy and across Europe. The Atalanta side that won the 1962–63 Coppa Italia was predominantly composed of players trained in the club's youth ranks such as Angelo Domenghini and Piero Gardoni. Additionally, many players who began their professional careers at Atalanta went on to play in Europe's most successful clubs, such as Gaetano Scirea (who would also win the 1982 FIFA World Cup with Italy). Caravaggio (; ) is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Bergamo, in Lombardy, Italy, east of Milan. It is the home town of renaissance era artists Caravaggio and Polidoro da Caravaggio. 2018–19 Serie C
The 2018–19 Serie C was the 60th season of the Serie C, the third tier of the Italian football league system, organized by the Lega Pro. Teams The league originally featured 60 teams. However, it saw the bankruptcy and subsequent withdrawal of Andria, Mestre, Reggiana and Vicenza. To fill the vacancies in Serie B, Novara, Catania and Siena became the repechage candidates from Serie C, to the objection of Pro Vercelli and Ternana. However, on 10 August Lega B announced that a 19-team calendar would be commissioned for the 2018–19 and no repechage would take place. The first team of Bassano Virtus was relocated to Vicenza as L.R. Vicenza Virtus. While its owner, had also acquired some assets from the liquidators of Vicenza. Juventus Next Gen (), also known as Juve Next Gen or Juve NG, is a professional football club based in Turin, Piedmont, Italy, which acts as the reserve team of club Juventus. They compete in , and play their home games at the Stadio La Marmora-Pozzo in Biella. Following the reintroduction of reserve teams in Italy, Juventus U23 was formed in 2018 and was registered to Serie C, the third level of the Italian league system. In the first years, the team reached the promotion play-off stages of Serie C, without gaining promotion. In the 2019–20 season, under coach Fabio Pecchia, Juventus U23 won the Coppa Italia Serie C after defeating Ternana in the final. The club changed its name to Juventus Next Gen in 2022. The Italian football league system, also known as the Italian football pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Italy. It consists of nine national and regional tournaments, the first three being professional, while the remaining six are amateur, set up by the Italian Football Federation. The Professional Development League is a system of Football in England, English youth association football, football leagues that are managed, organised and controlled by the Premier League or by the Football League.
