Astrup Fearnley Museum Of Modern Art
The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is a privately owned contemporary art gallery in Oslo in Norway. It was founded and opened to the public in 1993. The collection's main focus is the American appropriation artists from the 1980s, but it is currently developing towards the international contemporary art scene, with artists like Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, Cindy Sherman, Matthew Barney, Tom Sachs, Doug Aitken, Olafur Eliasson, and Cai Guo-Qiang. The museum gives 6-7 temporary exhibitions each year. Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art collaborates with international institutions and produces exhibitions that travel worldwide. In 2012 the museum moved to two new buildings designed by Renzo Piano in Tjuvholmen. Thomas Fearnley (1880–1961)
Thomas Fearnley (16 January 1880 – 10 January 1961) was a Norwegian shipping magnate, sports executive and philanthropist. He was a prominent figure in Norwegian shipping in the first half of the 20th century. Biography Fearnley was born at Oslo, Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. He was the son of shipping magnate Thomas Fearnley (shipping magnate born 1841), Thomas Nicolay Fearnley (1841–1927) and his wife Elisabeth Young (1854–1932). He was a member of the Fearnley (Norwegian family), Fearnley family and was the grandson of romantic painter Thomas Fearnley and paternal grandnephew of professor Carl Frederik Fearnley (1818-1890). Miodrag Đurić (; 4 October 1933 – 27 November 2010), known as Dado (), was a Montenegrin-born artist who spent most of his life and creative career in France. He is particularly known as a painter but was also active as an engraver, draftsman, book illustrator and sculptor. Early life and education (1933–1955) Đurić was born on 4 October 1933, in Cetinje, the historic capital of Montenegro, then part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and grew up in a middle-class family. His mother, Vjera Đurić (née Kujačić), was a biology teacher, and his father, Ranko Đurić, belonged to a family of entrepreneurs. Common Chimpanzee
The chimpanzee (; ''Pan troglodytes''), also simply known as the chimp, is a species of great ape native to the forests and savannahs of tropical Africa. It has four confirmed subspecies and a fifth proposed one. When its close relative the bonobo was more commonly known as the pygmy chimpanzee, this species was often called the common chimpanzee or the robust chimpanzee. The chimpanzee and the bonobo are the only species in the genus ''Pan''. Evidence from fossils and DNA sequencing shows that ''Pan'' is a sister taxon to the human lineage and is thus humans' closest living relative.
