Astral (1923 Automobile)
{{Use British English, date=July 2017 The Astral was a car built from 1923 to 1924 by Hertford Engineering Co Ltd, Barking, then in Essex (now in east London), England. Only one model was made, the 12/40, and although it was short-lived, it had many advanced features. The engine, made in-house, was a 1720 cc four-cylinder with a single overhead camshaft, and the car had brakes on all four wheels. It cost £365 for a two-seater and £375 for a four/five-seat tourer. Barking is a suburb and area in Greater London, within the Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It is east of Charing Cross. The total population of Barking was 59,068 at the 2011 census.If defined as the Abbey, Eastbury, Gascoigne, Longbridge, and Thames electoral wards of Barking & Dagenham Council In addition to an extensive and fairly low-density residential area, the town centre forms a large retail and commercial district, currently a focus for regeneration. Origins and administration Toponymy The name Barking came from Anglo-Saxon ''Berecingas'', meaning either "the settlement of the followers or descendants of a man called Bereca" or "the settlement by the birch trees".
