Bruce Astill
Bruce Astill (born 13 June 1955) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s. A Queensland State of Origin representative three-quarter back, he played club football in the Brisbane Rugby League premiership with Souths Magpies whom he captained to victory in the 1981 Grand Final. Astill first represented Queensland against New South Wales in 1979. He was selected on the bench for the first ever State of Origin match in 1980, becoming Queensland State of Origin player No. 15, but did not take the field. In 1981, Astill captained the Souths Magpies to a Brisbane Rugby League premiership. Ewart Astill
William Ewart Astill (1 March 1888 – 10 February 1948) was, along with George Geary, the mainstay of the Leicestershire team from 1922 to about 1935. He played in nine Test matches but was never picked for a home Test or for an Ashes tour. However, for the best part of three decades he was a vital member of a generally struggling Leicestershire team. With no amateur able to play frequently for the county, Astill became the first officially appointed professional captain of any county for over fifty years in 1935. The county enjoyed a useful season, but at forty-seven years of age, Astill was only a stop gap before an amateur of the required standard and availability could be found. Len Astill
Leonard Victor Astill (30 December 1916 – 25 March 1990) was an English footballer who played as a left winger in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Blackburn Rovers. He also appeared in the Southern League for Ipswich Town and Colchester United. Career Born in Wolverhampton, Astill played as a youth for Horden Road and Old Hall schools in Wolverhampton, before joining local club Heath Town, and then being picked up by hometown Football League club Wolverhampton Wanderers. After only two appearances for Wolves, he moved to Blackburn Rovers in 1935 having gained England Junior caps during the 1934–35 season. He signed for a fee of £3,000, but could only manage three appearances and one goal at Ewood Park. Astill moved to East Anglia from Blackburn to Ipswich Town in 1937, where he scored 12 goals in 27 league games during his solitary season at the club. Nottingham Cricket Club was an English cricket club which played in Nottingham during the 18th and 19th centuries. Matches have been recorded between 1771 and 1848 and the team played in 15 first-class matches between 1826 and 1848.
