Astero (1929)
''Astero'' () is a Greek silent film directed by Dimitris Gaziadis in 1929. The film is considered a romantic fustanella film and was filmed in a rural Greek setting. The fustanella was traditional Greek attire. It is a pleated skirt-like garment that is also referred to as a kilt and was initially featured in the film ''Golfo''. Dimitris Gaziadis wrote the screenplay in collaboration with Orestis Laskos. Laskos also wrote and directed the 1931 Greek silent film ''Daphnis and Chloe (film), Daphnis and Chloe'' which was also filmed in an agricultural setting. The filming of Astero took place between 8-31 of March in 1929. A significant part of the filming took place in areas of the Peloponnese such as Mount Helmos, the Waters of Stygos, the Mega Spilaio, Monastery of Mega Spilaio, the Diakopto–Kalavryta railway, Zachlorou, Mesorrougi, Solos, and Elatophyto. ''Ramona'' is an 1884 American novel written by Helen Hunt Jackson. Set in Southern California after the Mexican–American War and annexation of the territory by the United States, ''Ramona'' explores the life of a mixed-race Scottish– Native American orphan girl. The story was inspired by the marriage of Hugo Reid and Victoria Reid. Originally serialized weekly in the ''Christian Union'', the novel became immensely popular. It has had more than 300 printings, and has been adapted five times as a film. A play adaptation has been performed annually outdoors since 1923. The novel's influence on the culture and image of Southern California was considerable. Its sentimental portrayal of Mexican elite colonial life contributed to establishing a unique cultural identity for the region. Zachlorou
Kato Zachlorou () is a village and a community in eastern Achaea, Greece. It is built on a mountain slope on the left bank of the river Vouraikos, which forms a narrow gorge. The community consists of the villages Kato Zachlorou and Ano Zachlorou, and the Mega Spilaio monastery. It is south of Diakopto, and northeast of Kalavryta. The narrow gauge Diakofto–Kalavryta Railway runs through the village.
