Aster Aweke
Aster Aweke ( am, አስቴር አወቀ; born 1959) is an Ethiopian singer who sings in Amharic. Aster's voice has attracted broader public popularity, especially tracing back in 1990s singles and her single "Abebayehosh" in Ethiopian New Year. She is best known for her 1999 album ''Hagere'' and her 2006 album ''Fikir''. She moved to the United States in 1981, and she returned to Ethiopia in 1997. Early life Born in Gondar in 1959. She moved to Addis Ababa as a child with her father, who was senior civil servant in the imperial government of Haile Selassie. Aster hails from the Amhara ethnic group. In a 1990 interview with Amy Duncan of The Christian Science Monitor, Aster told the opposition of her music ambition from her parents: "My family opposed me, but i just kept going and going....That's my life. Addis Ababa Bole International Airport is an international airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is in the Bole district, southeast of the city centre and north of Bishoftu. The airport was formerly known as '' Haile Selassie I International Airport''. The Hager Fikir Theatre ( am, ሃገር ፍቅር ቲያትር) is a theatre in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is one of the oldest and foremost theatre in Ethiopian history; hosting as multipurpose artistic venue over half decades. Bizunesh Bekele (; 1936 – 25 June 1990) was an Ethiopian soul singer who was popular in the 1960s and 1970s of Golden Age. She was referred to as "Aretha Franklin of Ethiopia" due to similitude of musical style. Her songs were released in her native Amharic language. Life and career Bizunesh Bekele was born in 1936. After joining Kebur Zabagna Band, by her friend persuasion, she hosted ''Tikil Radio'' entertainment program in 1957, became prominent in the era.
