Anastasia Nikolaevna von Gerzfeld (, sometimes transliterated as Anastassia von Hertzfeld; 16 February 1912 – 27 January 1998), known professionally as Assia Noris, was a Russian-Italian film actress. Born in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Noris appeared in over 35 films between 1932 and 1965, such as the Mario Mattoli 1936 film ''The Man Who Smiles''. She also made several appearances alongside Vittorio De Sica when he was a young actor and took part in a number of films directed by her later husband Mario Camerini, including ''Il signor Max'' (1937). She was previously married to film director Roberto Rossellini. Assia (born November 1, 1973) is an Algerian-born French singer with Kabyle origins. She had great success with her hit singles "Elle est à toi" and "Là-bas". Biography At a young age, she spent twelve years at the classical conservatory in Créteil (near Paris), then a few years later obtained a law degree. From 1998 to 1999, Assia participated in "Une Affaire de famille" with Stomy Bugsy, Passi and Doc Gynéco of the Sector A and the soundtracks of the movies ''Taxi'' and ''Kiss of the Dragon'' with the song "Ghir Dini". In 2000, she released her first album entitled ''Chercheuse d'or'' (recorded in Paris, Toulouse and Los Angeles). Assia wrote the texts and his brother Khalil signed the music. Fatima-Zohra Imalayen (; 30 June 1936 – 6 February 2015), known by her pen name Assia Djebar (), was an Algerian novelist, translator and filmmaker. Most of her works deal with obstacles faced by women, and she is noted for her feminist stance. She is "frequently associated with women's writing movements, her novels are clearly focused on the creation of a genealogy of Algerian women, and her political stance is virulently anti-patriarchal as much as it is anti-colonial." Djebar is considered to be one of North Africa's pre-eminent and most influential writers. She was elected to the Académie française on 16 June 2005, the first writer from the Maghreb to achieve such recognition. Assia Esther Wevill ( Gutmann; 15 May 1927 – 23 March 1969) was a German-Jewish woman who escaped the Nazis at the beginning of World War II and emigrated to Mandatory Palestine, via Italy, then later England, where she had an affair with the English poet Ted Hughes. While she was a successful advertising copywriter and a talented translator of poetry, she is mainly remembered in the context of her relationship with Sylvia Plath and Hughes. Assia Dagher (; 6 March 1908 – 12 January 1986) was a Lebanese-Egyptian actress and film producer. Biography Dagher (Almaza Dagher) was born in Tannourine, Lebanon on 6 March 1908. She moved to Cairo with her sister Mary, and niece Mary Queeny in 1919, when she was only 11 years old, after the French occupation of Syria and Lebanon. She stayed with Asaad Dagher, her cousin, who was a writer and journalist at the famous Al-Ahram newspaper. She got the Egyptian nationality in 1933. The first time she acted was in 1926 in a film called ''Laila'', directed by Wadad Orfi. Dagher was the first Lebanese to be on the big screen. Assia (, ; ) is a village in the Famagusta District of Cyprus, located 6 km northwest of Vatili. It is under the ''de facto'' control of Northern Cyprus. History Assia is located in the center of the Mesaoria valley. The village was recorded as early as the early 13th century in papal documents. Before 1974, the population of Assia was approximately 2,700. The village consisted of two parishes, St. John's and St. George's. The village had five churches: St. George, St. John Prodromos, St. Theodore, St. Spyridon and Virgin Mary. St. Spyridon was born in Assia and the church was built by Michael Kassialos, a folk artist from Assia. Assia was also well known for the craftsmanship of the embroidery made there. Best known as "the father of DSL," Cioffi's pioneering research was instrumental in making digital subscriber line (DSL) technology practical and has led to over 400 publications and more than 100 pending or issued patents, many of which are licensed.
