Assi S.S. Milano
Assi Società Sportiva Milano (Aces Milan Sports Club) or simply Assi Milano was an Italian men's basketball club. History As Arrigo Muggiani recalled,Articolo apparso su «Lo Sport Illustrato», citato in Mario Arceri e Valerio Bianchini, ''La leggenda del basket'', Baldini Castoldi Dalai, Milano, 2004, p. 139. the club was founded in 1920 by students of "Horses and Conti" with the collaboration of the YMCA Milan basketball section. The Milanese team was a real star of the prehistory of the Italian Championship, winning six league titles in seven seasons between 1921 and 1927, before disappearing after the 1930 season. The first championship won it in 1921: after beating Juvenilia, Comense and US Milanese in Group B qualifier, Assi also won the semifinal and final to the first 2 classified in the group A. Lega Basket Serie A
The Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) is a professional men's club basketball league that has been organised in Italy since 1920. Serie A is organised by Lega Basket, which is regulated by the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP). It is the highest-tier level of the Italian league system. The LBA plays under FIBA rules and currently consists of 16 teams, with the lowest-placed team relegated to the Serie A2 and replaced by the winner of the play-offs of that tier. A total of 99 teams have competed in the LBA since its inception. Seventeen teams have been crowned champions, with Olimpia Milano having won the title a record 28 times, and Virtus Bologna 16 times. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three.
