Assam Baibhav
Assam Baibhav is the highest civilian award of the state of Assam, India. On 2 December 2021, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially declared the award on the occasion of "Asom Diwas" (Assam Day). The award carries a cash prize of and the recipient can avail medical treatment throughout his life at government expense. The obverse of the award is an image of the Jaapi along with the words "Assam Baibhav", inscribed in Assamese script, on a Hollong tree (''Dipterocarpus retusus'') leaf. In 2021, the Government of Assam conferred the inaugural Assam Baibhav award to Ratan Tata, for "his exceptional contribution towards furthering cancer care in Assam". The Government of Assam or Assam Government abbreviated as GoAS, is the Subnational legislature, state government of the Indian state of Assam. It consists of the Governors of states of India, Governor appointed by the President of India as the head of the state, currently Lakshman Acharya, Lakshman Prasad Acharya. Jaapi
Jaapi or Japi ( Bodo: Khofri) is an Asian conical hat. It is made from tightly woven bamboo and/or cane and ''tokou paat'' ( Trachycarpus martianus) a large, palm leaf. The word ''jaapi'' derives from ''jaap'' meaning a bundle of ''tokou'' leaves. In the past, plain jaapis were used by ordinary people in Assam and by farmers for protection from the sun, while ornate decorative jaapis were worn as a status symbol by the royalty and nobility. Decorative ''sorudoi jaapi'' are made with intricate cloth designs (primarily red, white, green, blue, and black) that are integrated into the weaving. History The medieval Sutiya kings used the jaapi as a cultural symbol. Ratan Tata
Ratan Naval Tata (28 December 1937 9 October 2024) was an Indian industrialist and philanthropist. He served as the chairman of Tata Group and Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012 and he held the position of interim chairman from October 2016 to February 2017. In 2000, he received the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour in India, followed by the Padma Vibhushan, the country's second highest civilian honour, in 2008. Himanta Biswa Sarma
Himanta Biswa Sarma (born 1 February 1969) is an Indian politician and lawyer serving as the 15th and current Chief Minister of Assam since 2021. A former member of the Indian National Congress, Sarma joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on 23 August 2015 and soon was made convenor of NEDA. He is a five time Member of the Assam Legislative Assembly from Jalukbari, having been elected since 2001. Early life and education Sarma was born on 1 February 1969 in Jorhat, Assam, the family, including six siblings, later shifted to Ulubari, Gandhibasti in Guwahati.
