Ashling Thompson
Ashling Thompson is an Irish sportswoman. She plays camogie with her local club, Milford, and with the Cork county team. Her partner is well known Limerick All Ireland Winning Midfielder Darragh O'Donovan Career Thompson began playing camogie for Milford aged 6. With them, she was won three All-Ireland Senior Club Camogie Championships. Ashling has won the All-Ireland camogie championship five times. She helped her team to glory in: 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, 2023 Thompson won an All Star Award in 2015 and 2017. She was the subject of a ''Laochra Gael'' episode in 2018. Personal life Thompson's mother was involved in the founding of Milford camogie club. A car accident in 2009 caused severe muscle damage to her neck and back and led to a period of mental illness. In 2012, a boyfriend committed suicide. Thompson supports the Irish Life Health Schools' Fitness Challenge and has spoken out on mental health issues. 2023 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship
The 2023 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship, known for sponsorship reasons as the Glen Dimplex Senior All-Ireland Championship, was the premier inter-county competition of the 2023 camogie season. Camogie All Stars Awards
The Camogie All Star Awards are awarded each November to 15 players who have made outstanding contributions to the Irish stick and ball team sport of camogie in the 15 traditional positions on the field: goalkeeper, three full backs, three half-backs, two midfields, three half-forwards and three full-forwards. They were awarded for the first time in 2003 as an independent initiative sponsored by a hotel group and accorded official status by the Camogie Association in 2004. In 2004 a team of the century was also chosen to commemorate the centenary of the sport. O'Neill's are the present title sponsors of the awards. The 2018 All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship – known as the Liberty Insurance Camogie Championship for sponsorship reasons – is the premier inter-county competition of the 2018 camogie season. The championship began on 9 June and ended on 9 September with Cork retaining the O'Duffy Cup.
