Ashley House (Fall River, Massachusetts)
The Ashley House (also known as Aunt Polly's House) was a historic house located at 3159 North Main Street in Fall River, Massachusetts. Description and history The house was built in about 1750 in the Steep Brook section of the town, which was then still part of Freetown. It was a -story, wood-framed structure, five bays wide, with a side-gable roof and clapboard siding. It was one of the only Federal-period with a pedimented doorway that included a half-round fanlight. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 16, 1983. The house was dismantled in July 1983, only 5 months after its designation as a landmark. The site is now owned by the New England Power Company. Colonel John Ashley House
The Colonel John Ashley House is a historic house museum at 117 Cooper Hill Road in Sheffield, Massachusetts. Built in 1735 by a prominent local leader, it is one of the oldest houses in southern Berkshire County. The museum is owned and operated by The Trustees of Reservations, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Description The Ashley House stands in a rural area of central southern Sheffield, on the south side of Cooper Hill Road west of the village of Ashley Falls. The house stands on historically associated with it, but is not on its original site, having been moved 3/10 of a mile in 1930 to improve its siting relative to the road and associated outbuildings. Ashley House (Charleston, South Carolina)
The Ashley House, one of the tallest buildings in Charleston, South Carolina is a fourteen-story condominium building on Lockwood Blvd. in Charleston, South Carolina. When built, it was the tallest apartment building in the city. The tract at the corner of Fourth Ave. and Lockwood Blvd. was sold to American Mortgage Investment Co. in September 1963 for $61,000. A condition on the sale required at least $500,000 in improvements to be started within two years of the sale. Work began on the building in August 1964 following plans by Lyles, Bissett, Carlylses & Wolff of Columbia, South Carolina. The first floor houses commercial space catering to the needs of residents, and the uppermost floor housed machinery, leaving twelve floors of occupied space. Rent was originally set between $95 and $182 per month. The Ashley House Apartments (Condominiums) is actually thirteen stories in height.
